Got my new dry suit wet this AM and gave it a real workout in the surf kicked up by a brisk south-west wind.

41/2 hours of hunting with the Dual Field resulted in two rings found along with the usual PI stuff (bits of nails, wire etc) and a few coins (all clad I think although some are encrusted).

The signet ring is 10K and the other has a French inscription and the date 9-24-09.

Based on the style and condition I'm sure this ring is over a hundred years old!!

Even silver won't tarnish much in less than a month.

I do like the dry suit, but had no one to snap a picture for you this time.

The struggle to get into it and out again demands dedication on the part of the user that's for sure!!

Great finds! And I am happy the dry suit was to your liking. Probably after you get in and out of it a few times it will go better for you! The important thing is you got a good workout and found some gold!

Did you stay dry? How did it work around the neck area? Did it breath? Were you comfortable?

Stayed dry after I managed to get the zipper completely closed!

That isn't easy!

The neck seal is still too tight and I'll stretch it some more.

It only serves as a splash guard anyway as I don't plan to go under water thus there is no pressure to push water past the seal.

I had on a long sleeve thermal suit and managed to get the sleeve under the right arm seal and got a wet arm, but not too bad.

Need to get fleece underwear and that should make it a little easier to get in and out of the suit.

I'm not sure what purpose the neoprene girdle (tube?) serves and am inclined to remove it as it makes it harder to get into and remove the suit.

Hello CJ,
I think the neoprene "splash guard" is for use with a kayak spray shield. Somehow it works in conjunction with the splash guard on a kayak to keep water out of the cockpit. Thank you for the update!

w/Velcro , keeps the water of the kayak.

Remember if your in water up to your neck or lower at that point you are surrounded by water and Not air. So how are you able to breath!
You will collect sweat in foot. I have and do hunt in water for 8 or more hours.

One more thing, while in a suit or even dry sand never wear cotton!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't have anything cotton. Only Under Armour, type clothes.

The tunnel was an option you didn't need.

I wasn't sure what the "tunnel was for and ordered it just in case it was usefull.

It has really restricted my ability to get in and out of the suit!

I will carefully remove it tomorrow.

ya sure are dedicated and it shows by the amt of finds especially rings-me I hate the cold be it air or water-keep at it good luck on future hunts

Got Under Armor #3 for under the surface and #2 for above.

I'll supplement with fleece as needed.

Layering does work.

How do you manage really cold water?

I'm not sure just what is the best way to keep the feet warm.

I have a pair of wet suit neoprene gloves for my hands and they seem to work OK.

Any thoughts on any of this will be appreciated.

After checking out every available source in the area I finally found the Zip Lube at a dive shop and now I can open and close the thing with less than 1/2 the effort!!

I dropped off the ring with the stone at a jeweler friends today and he is pretty sure the "stone" is synthetic in a 12 K setting.

He agrees that it looks like a "French" setting which goes along with the inscription.

He is going to have a gemologist/appraiser friend look at it even though he and I don't really think it has any significant value.

It is an object of interest if for no other reason than it is over a hundred years old!
