hey guys long time no post !!! sorry about that .. hope all is well with the hunting and best of luck . i was hunting sunday
and im young into the hobby , 20 yrs and kickin ass .. someone one saw me hunting and said are you a little too young
to be doing that . what MDing !!... i said are u a little to old to be alive ..... lmao .. like everyne who mD's is retired and old
right some people are strange .well lets get down to the questions ...first went to a high school , i been waiting to hit
but never got a chance since sunday .i rocked the bleachers . i got skills with the ace 250 . it is a bad mother .u become
one with it . u dont need a pricey 1000 dollar detector to find what u want its all about how u search . the pinpoint
never have a problem , i hardly even look at the screen anymore only if i get a nickle signal , i did anything and everything
, u will never know what is waiting for u .. i saw a recent post saying they have problems with the 6x9 coil , its simple
i learned how to pinpoint in matter of 2 days . but after awile u will become one with ur detector . it all about time ,trust , and no
frustration . i will post pics tommaro of the school finds , i will wait to tell .. ANYWAYS i was at the beach sunday to
and i was wondering the shaft from the coil up is submercible up to 8 inches ?? and when u are in the water for instince
and u get a hot signal in 3 inches of water . what do u do have a sifter to reach down and scoop the sand ??? and one
more thing i heard that wraping ur coil counter clock wize will hurt the coil is this true???? i will post pics tommaro...
the ace is a bad ass machine never double think it ....
thank you guys

ACE 250

Some people associate :detecting: to older folks because their retired and have the time to do it..It's a hobby that every one can do regarless of age or gender..It' ok to detect in water as the coil is water proof..Whatever you do ,do not get water into the housing of the detector or it will be toast..If your detecting in water get your self a meshed scoop to dig out your finds..What erver you do DO NOT GET WATER anywhere close to the ACE 250 yellow housing./ The cable on my ACE is wraped clock wise around the shaft with enought slack close to the coil to allow for the flexing of the coil..I've used it that way since I got the ACE250 and never had any issue with its use for detecting..

Wel, let's see!! You always want to make your first wind of the coil wire go over the top of the rod, so, you will wrap it clockwise!! Yes, get that coil as wet as you want. Pictured below is my Otter Ace 150, made totally waterproof by enclosing the control box in an Otter Box. Deadly in the lakes, not sure about salt water though. Also pictured is my scoop and sifter (orange thing). You don't really need a sifter, but a long handled scoop is a must!! L8R G8R

sorry how the front came out every time i post it shows up like that ..!!! it is regardless of age people of these days dont
know what they are missing out on.....yea i didnt mean only old people do , everyone can only if u put ur self
into enjoying the hobby , it a great hobby to get hooked on ...

ACE 250

I've made some excellent finds with the 150 Otter Ace!! Several gold and silver rings and a bunch of coins as well. The Otter seems to come alive in the water, you just have to experience it. The only drawback right now is the Otter floats when it gets to the box, or about waist deep. After that it's like trying to wrestle an octopus and I opt out for my other brand machine for the deep water. I'm thinking of dis-mantling it, splice in a longer coil wire and chest or back mount the controls so I can hit the shoulder deep water with it. I must stress this, if you get into the water without water-proofing your 250, DON'T DROP IT!!! It will be a $200 trot line weight right quick!! I drop mine all the time trying to scoop a deep target, it's tougher than you might think!! For a scoop, Google up Stainless Steel Beach Scoops and look for a guy in Florida, makes 'm himself. The stainless steel ones are a little more expensive but a much better scoop. Be prepared to pay around $150 for a good one. I think mine is a 48" handle, something like that, one of the Rambo models.

Below is a pic of one of my first hunts with the Otter, two silver rings on that one!!

Hummm.. I wonder if it would help to have an extra long
rod, and add a cable extension. Course, you would have to
water proof the union, but that should be fairly easy. I'd have to
look at my 250, but I think the coil cable connectors are the standard
5 pin, which used to be fairly common on many CB radios, etc.
So it would be fairly easy to find connectors for both ends, and
make an extension cable, and not have to splice the original coil
cable. "If that was an issue".
Actually, I was just thinking... Being as the cable is normally wrapped, there is
a bit extra, and it's possible you might not have to use an extension at all
if the extra rod wasn't too long.
If you added a LONG rod, and a long cable to match, you might be able to
rig up a ace "Boat Hog" and do deeper water searching while cruising the
coastline in a small boat, canoe, kayak, etc . :heh:
:chase:
The only drawback is someone has to get in the water and retrieve the
goodies that are found... :argue:

There are several water hunters on here. They sure do score some nice gold, Looks even profitable for some.

Everything is waterproof up to the control box. Just don't get it wet or splash it or you'll be out of business. You need a regular scoop for retrieving coins under the water. They are sold by all dealers or if you're handy you can make one. You can wrap the cable in any direction as long as you don't put a strain on the connection. Looking forward to your pics.

I know kids that have gotten hooked on detecting. You don't have to be an old fart. Charles Garrett started when he was 15 and really got hooked and you see where he went. :)
