Water hunting yesterday I recovered this heavy bronze thing that would appear to be attached to a pole/handle with some sort of device suspended between it's arms.

The 10"+ spread of the arms might allow a scoop of some sort to be attached.

Wire brushed the light coating of mineral deposit off.

Cleaned up nicely.

Magnet says there is no steel/iron here.

Cupajo,Just a guess but may have held some sort of light ... i say that because the way the holes line up it could have swiveled in any direction, up,down, side to side.. i suspect the bracket maybe slightly sprung open a little wider than original.. well thats 1st thing comes to mind anyway...certainly looks like something from an old boat... of course im probably stating the obvious lol...

That is a sensible conclusion Friend!! It may well be a device for suspending a lantern or other light source.

Thanks for your reply!!

Some Friends have suggested it is a bow hand hold to allow handling a small boat.

Works for me!!
