I have been hunting a site that dates back to the 1790's at minimum......the house sits right on the original road...there are about 3 plus acres.....I know a ton of fill dirt has been dropped on this property.....sits near a creek and along a railroad line.......you want to see all the goodies don't you....well not yet at least.....stone walls are still there,etc....that's not the point of the post.....I have been pounding this place......
now I hunt exclusively with a big coil on my explorer....thats just what I like....big coil...goes deep...no trouble with smaller targets....anyway a buddy who hunts a lot too...said.........."go in there with the smaller coil and you will clean up".....my first response was might as well try it.....so I did......the area is trashy with all kinds of crap some old some new....
well I figured I missed stuff...not the case......the small coil did not pull anything the bigger coil was too big on.....just got to pull all the surface stuff create a better environment and keep on pounding..................
I did find a tomac botton the size of a half-dollar with the shank intact at about two inches under a bush....................so the fill isn't masking everything.
sometimes there's just nothing there........sometimes luck comes on the third Tuesday of odd number months.........
we all analyse this stuff way too much.....
