USPS......horrible.

The United States Postal Service is terrible. Making me look like a bad person. I shipped out a detector on the 17th. They told me they could not ship it priority because of the size of the package. She measured it and told me the computer kept defaulting to parcel. She tried this several times. Finally I paid her and told her to ship it parcel with insurance and a tracking number.

The gentleman I did the trade with was somehow able to ship priority, and I got my package in 3 days. I get a message from him today, the expected arrival date of MY package to him, and according to the tracking number the package is still at the sorting facility IN MY TOWN!

Anyone else experience this type of horrible service? I feel like an asshole now giving him the arrival date and the USPS messed it up. Needless to say I will be voicing my opinions in a not so nice manner tomorrow morning.

Next time I guess I will use UPS or FED EX.

Ryaan, I agree with you about parcel service with the USPS. It is very undependable to say the least. I have had two small packages lost and gone forever shipping parcel. The items were under 50 bucks and I did not insure them. I have no doubt they were stolen because of their small size. Just about all of our available shipping options whether it be Postal, UPS, or Fed Ex can have drawbacks. I almost always use Fed Ex or UPS, but I have found the boxes to be really banged up when they get to me. I get around this by double boxing and really packing the peanuts and air cushions. It is messy, but when people throw boxes, it is a must. Hopefully the person you are sending the package to will understand. The same thing happened to me a couple of years back, but because it was the Christmas season, the gentleman I traded with understood. You can't do anymore than show him your paperwork. Good luck.

I use usps exclusivly to ship all my detector transactions... I've sent some really big packages priority mail.. ( minelab boxes are rather large )... I even sent hookah dive equipment in really large boxes with substantial weight too..all with no problems..

I have to beleive this person was not entering the info correctly to do a priority mail transaction.....

For me usps is the only was to go..all the others are just to damm slow.

I've had no problems with USPS in my area. Maybe it could be isolated incidents that are specific to certain locations, i.e., bad management or untrustworthy employees.

I ship with the Postal Service every day and rarely ever have any issues. I can't recall ever having a domestic item lost that was going by Priority mail. I've had several issues with overseas packages, but I can't blame USPS for the postal services in other countries. All the issues I have had were with USPS Media Mail service or Parcel Post.

I good trick I use for shipping a detector is to ship them in 2 separate boxes (The shaft in one and all the rest in another.) That way you can use a small, well padded box for the control housing and just a narrow tube for the shaft.

Sometimes I think about sending myself a package by UPS with a hidden camera. All my UPS deliveries look like they the driver has kicked the box all the way to my house.

I use usps 99.9% of the time and have shipped lots of detectors and never had a problem shipping them by priority mail. Their online tracking system is pathetic though.

Have never had a problen until recently when someone paid extra to send a money order priority and it took five days to receive it. Problem is it was only going about 300 miles. Always use USPS to support them. They have laid off a lot and closed many locations. Hope we don't loose them.

When shipping packages by US Postal make sure that the
postal clerk does Priority mail. The difference in cost between
shipping as a parcel vs priority mail is not much.

It's worth the extra fee.

But keep in mind that the US Postal service has closed some
of the processing centers and more consolidation will follow.

With that being said, paying the 55 cents for tracking is
another good add on!
