Usually I post for the month, but today was a good day for the Xterra 305

Headed back over to the soccer field at the school I hunt.
There was a lot of activity but it was all indoor.
So that left me open for a good time.
Spent about 2 hours and had to take a break for a bathroom break.
Wife said go back and have some more fun. Plus the batteries were about done also and
they also had to be refreshed with a new set. Picked up another $5.43.
Had a good year so far with the 305, but still low on nickel finds.

Well anyway it was a good day..

Happy Hunting

That is a good day! Congrats on all the coins. Just keep doing what you're doing and those nickels will start showing up sooner or later. HH Randy

Dig low pulltabs and you will dig Nickels... Or do I dig pulltabs because I dig Nickels??? Works for me. Some yards they hit 8 to 10 and other yards hit 12 to 14. The last sweet sounding 18 was a War Nickel.

Good job Bruce! Back when I used the stock coil I have to say that I my nickel finds were always low. I'm not sure if it had to do with the the soil content where I live and how the detector ground balanced or what. I attributed it to that and possibly my detector ground balancing in a way that maybe made it not as sensitive to nickels. For about the last 4 or 5 months I pretty much use the 10.5" 18.5khz DD coil and I have days that I find 10 nickels or more. 10 is on the high end but I can't think of a day that I don't come home with a nickel. What's funny is that nearly ever place that I want back to after using the stock coil, at every location I found nickels. Like TURNMASTER said, you may find nickels "around" where a nickel should be reading and not exactly where they should read. I think the soil that they are in and how you are ground balanced to that soil can make them read not quite what swiping over them on top of the ground would read.

I was in an area last week that I had some pennies that were reading like what a quarter would typically read. If I dug up a penny that read like a quarter and put that exact same penny on top of the ground and swiped over it, I read exactly what I would have expected a penny to read. Strange.....that was the first time that I had that happen.

Good luck!
