V, toast and a Merc.

Well-known member
Did a little angle direction hunting of some areas previously hunted with both the Omega and F 75 LTD this morning and was using the 10" coil on the Omega for a change. Didn't find much, but was pleased with the 26 Merc and the 1912 V nickel, non the less. The toasted disc I believe is a nickel, but it is in really bad condition. 2nd toasted one like that I have found of late. There have been a couple of threads of late regarding nickels and how they read under various conditions. The un-known disc actually stayed in the nickel range, but was only about 4" deep. The V was a vdi that historically I seldom dig as it was bouncing from about 53/54 to as high as 85. The only reason I dug it was because it was showing 6" and I occasionally got a high tone with mostly a mid tone in d3 tones. As this site has given up some curios and keepers at depth readings, is pretty much why I decided to dig it. And, it was every bit of the 6" depth reading being shown. Our ground right now is near bone dry again and there was no other trash item nearby the V that I could detect. Also, was running 99 sen, 1 disc and a gb of 65-67. HH jim tn

Your gonna hit it hard tomorrow? Our dirt is drying out a little, and its gonna be hot, luckily, its homecoming night at the local high school, so bleacher diving in the am, and maybe a little water hunting later.. plow the road, Jim! Winters coming!

Thanks for the toast, mud. Starting tomorrow, I am hooking up with youngest son and he, his two dogs and I are heading up to Mn to do a little fall fishing and me some detecting. I'm looking forward to the winter months and get to back in the woods again. Good luck with your bleacher diving. HH jim tn
