V3 experiences in Australia's Goldfields

Hello from downunder, I am apparently one of the first V3 owners in Australia.
I have been detecting for Gold mainly, for over 35 years but like us all, am a novice when it comes to the V3 and still have a lot to learn.
Australia's mineralisation on the goldfields is horrendous and is a severe challenge to all machines including the Minelab top of the range machines.
U.S.A mineralzatiom is apparently an average of 600 units where most Australian mineralization is 33000 plus proving a severe challenge to any machine, esp VLF units. Having said the above, I believe that for Australian conditions, it is one of the best coin and relic machines that I have owned.
Todays experience,
Travelled to a well known gold bearing area and set unit into prospecting mode used Ground probe and showed losing 38.9% of signal and recommended Rx gain 2 had ground filter set to 12.5 for noisy changeable ground and using 12 std white's coil and disc set at 50, despite the above settings, the unit was very noisy and falsing over the ground almost to the point of being unuseable, however, the good news is that I got a 3.5 gm nugget at 5 inches(more good luck than skill) any suggestions re settings or technique to quieten it down would be appreciated, ps, I still think this unit will be the best coin and relic machine I have ever owned,Goldfield mineral in Prospecting mode is my only problem

Jack.
I've been waiting to see how the V3 goes for prospecting here in Australia.
If what you say is correct, we have 55 times higher mineralisation than the States!

RX gain 2 is such a low setting, I guess if that's what it takes __ then you have to go down ~ way down with your gain...

I'm really interested in getting a V3, but hey; if it has problems dealing with our mineralisation in the goldfields that's still not going to be a hurdle for me though.

Was the coil you used a DD or a concentric ???
If it was a 12" concentric maybe you were seeing too much mineralisation ...
Any chance of getting hold of a 10" by 6" widescan "V" coil and give it another go ?

Thanks for your imput, when all else fails read the manual, I'm going to try -9 on hot rock setting and see if that will quieten down, will report on the forum next few days, will be getting bigger coil soon, the coil I used was a 12 inch std DD I believe that came with V3.
