V3i First Voyage

Went to a local park today with the V3i, First impressions - I like it so far no problems or complications.
I learned that when the VDI reads
'19" its a nickel every time.
I dug a lot of pull tabs but only because I was trying to learn the machine.
Can't wait for future hunts.

Yup, a solid 19 is always a nickel on mine to, but I have found that v nickels and shield nickels may read just a little higher.

Some of the best pull tabs I've dug were round, shiny and stamped 10K or 14K. So, I still dig 'em. Especially if they give a solid VDI. It's a pain in the rump but has been well worth the extra effort to me for the occasional reward (not to mention...a nice surprise) of a gold ring.

I also dig a lot of foil and have found several nice small karat gold rings and ear rings.

Good luck with the V3i

I dug a nickel in Austin once which read 18, even out of the hole. I definitely agree though, 19 is my go to Vdi to dig nickels. An 18 is a beavertail most times here.

I've never read another nickel as 18 in open air.

Be careful those Nickles will read as high as 22 sometimes.

If you are only digging 19 for nickles you are missing some of them. I have to agree with daddyflea.

Not sure what the 22s were might have been War Nickles but 19 to 22 is a must dig
