V3i name change

I recently purchased another v3i, (my third) and the guy who sold it lost the number you enter to get to where you can change the name on it. Is it possible to recover that number thru settings?
 
I don’t think so. Otherwise, someone could steal it and then go into the settings and change it to their name. You might check with Whites to see if they can change it for you, but you might have to show some kind of proof that you are the legal owner.
 
Call whites with your computer on and detector and they will walk you through to get the code back
