V4 Download head phone discrepancy

captcowboy

New member
I just updated from 3.2 to 4.0 with the ten inch coil, WS 5 headphones. Before, I could shut down the controller and still detect with just the head phones. Now the head phones are on but no connection to the
coil. Is this normal or should I reload everything. Also, the only sound I can get out of goldfield is pitch. Don't like that at all. May have to go back to 3.2, thats all I used at the beach for the last five months.

Yep, I'm in the same boat. I'm going back to 3.2 . Hunted most of the day and while I did make a few finds, my remote kept losing connection with the coil. Never had that problem before the download. A few other things I didn't get along with but most is just preference.
Alot for me is old habits die hard I guess.

I have notied this also but when I shut down the controller there is a lag time before the coil and headphones reconnect to one another but they do aND could continue to detect

Maybe I didn't wait long enough. Still can't figure out why only sounds I get in Goldfield is pitch. In 3.2 I had good sharp sounds in Goldfield

Correct there is now about a 30 second delay when you turn off just the LCD remote, the headphones will disconnect and then reconnect after about 30 seconds. Be careful as some have reported the headphones will turn themselves on with out the end user knowing it.

I too...have had exactly the same problem...but they will connect again after a few seconds. Not good...can think you are off and still be on...and next your battery will be dead because you put it away thinking you ad turned it off completely..

So they delay the release of the software update and we wait and now they have bugs...they are starting to sound so American?

I haven't changed to 4V yet, letting the Gurus figure out all the bug and glitches.
So my take on the headphones turning them selves back on after the controller is powered down, is to turn the headphones off first.
This has always been my practice with V3 and I will do the same when and if I load V4.
Just saying.....

Windows anyone.......LOL

When you updated to V4 did the install go through completely? Were you headphones shut off until you were told to turn them on?

Yes...did every thing by the book. If there is a delay after shutting off the controller maybe I didn't wait long enough. Will check that in the morning.
Another question is why is pitch the only sound choice on Goldfield

I have the WS4 headset and had no problems/

There is a delay of about 30 sec after you shut the remote off for the WS5 headphones and the coil to connect in V4.0. In 3.2 there was no delay. Not sure if this is just me or the standard for everyone updating
to V4.0. Not a problem if one knows to just wait 30 sec.
