V4 & V4.1 what is the differance in these two?

Improved communication between MI-6 and remote and the new ground tracking feature. That's what XP says anyway your milage may vary

I'm beginning to think the XY screen is more accurate at depth. Especially if you temporarily set ground sens at 10.Not sure yet because weather makes for little hunting time.

Would someone explain the new ground tracking feature? How might this help?

not in wet fields which is the case in the UK ,,TIDs are all over the place ,,GB is gone crazy

V4.1 – List of improvements:
Ø The Radio connection between MI-6 and DEUS is now more reliable and faster.

Ø New menu addition “Ground Sensitivity” in GB > EXPERT.
This new setting makes it possible to adjust the machine's ability to track soils according to their intensity. This makes it possible to avoid tracking on soils with a low mineralisation.

GROUND SENS low (1 to 5):
Slightly mineralized soils are ignored and the DEUS does not track and will not display ground values, the Deus will default to the recommended level.
GROUND SENS high (6 to 10):
The DEUS will track even low mineralized soils.

Note: Do not be tempted to adjust the “GROUND SENS” too high as this may introduce more instability and false ground readings. Levels of 1 to 5 are recommended, they will give you better stability over the V4.0.

Ø Ground Display and Ground Tracking:
Ground measurement display:
If the DEUS does not register a ground effect for 7 seconds or receives a level lower than the set “GROUND SENS” for more than 7 seconds it will now display – –
Ground Tracking: If the DEUS no longer measures a suitable ground effect for 30 seconds it will default the tracking to a setting value of 88 for more stability.

For example the ground value will revert to default if: The soil is not mineralized enough or if the level of mineralization is lower than your set “GROUND SENS”, or simply if you stop detecting.
As soon as you resume detecting or if the soil becomes sufficiently mineralized again, the DEUS will continue to track the soil and the display will show the measured value.

Note: HF disks do not require software updates for the moment, they are ignored during the update.

Alright here goes.

Using V4.1, the Deus tracking is changed. User will not see even a ground mineral index in top window when in manual, or when tracking ground balance selected depending.

User will have a readout in the bottom window all the time. This number might be default 88, or actual ground reading if sweeping or doing a pumping ground balance or even running tracking.

The ability of Deus to provide number in top meter will depend on the ground sensitivity and how mineralized one's soil is and yes even how fast you sweep.

A few examples here, I have personally seen using V4.1.

My ground when bobbing coil shows 5 ticks in mineralization strength meter.
If I select tracking to detect, and indeed want Deus to track to actual ground while sweeping, with ground sensitivty at default level 6, the Deus won't track. If I raise ground sensitivty to level 8, Deus tracks fine.

Now, with lower mineral soil, expect a user to even have to run a higher level ground sensitivty setting like 9 or 10 to get Deus to track.

While ground sensivity is set to 10, Deus tracks just fine using tracking, does provide info in top window too while detecting.

Now hunting in super duper polluted sites where depth generally not expected and the soil is medium or milder mineralized, an 88 default GB will work just fine.

This 4.1 tracking system probably suits the folks better in UK vs a lot of folks in USA.

Bottom line, to get depth in medium mineralized or higher, having Deus GB set to ground phase is important.

Higher ground sensitvty settings will COST a Deus user some finds, can't really tell a person how many. Remember Deus ground sensitivity is set default level 6,, and there is a good reason for this. But in order to use this level 6 setting, it likely will be necessary to use manual ground balance. Now when I say manual GB, this doesn't mean you necessarily do a manual GB, you can use pumping method to obtain GB.

See my post above.

How’s is work on saltwater beaches anyone try it wet and dry?
I hunt beaches all the time and is my machine noisy sometimes!
