Vaquero Air test

Gunnar asked me to test my Vaquero with a 10x12 butterfly coil with a dime. I decided to test a few items and report the results here. I set the V at just past 10 on the sensitivity, 2 o'clock on the threshold, and the DISC at nickel. I did not test with the standard 8x9 coil.

1. The nickel was silent
2. A silver quarter was good to about 8".
3. A clad dime and a silver dime both went to 7".
4. A medium size 14K ring was good till 9".
5. A silver British half crown went to 11".

thanks andy looks like we have three that agree hear with that setting, so its not really getting better depth with the 10x12 but maybe better coverage and possibly may do better in more mineralized ground ,
 
Guys just for kicks try another air test with 3 coils the 5.75 concentric or widescan, 9x8 and the 10x12. I don't have a 10x12 or a Vaquero or I would do it myself. I have a Tejon and I couldn't see any difference in depth for my 5.75" and the 9x8 on a clad quarter.

My brother also has a Tejon and his tested the same, no difference in depth on his coils either.

Now for me this is a good thing.

when the ground thaws i will try some in ground tests I already tried the 5.75 concentric in ground as you know it air tested a dime at 9" in disc, but in my ground it only gets a dig gable signal at 3.5" deep same as the compadre good thing is all metal gets way down their.
 
my air test on a dime is about the same I have got out of the ground. About 6 inches . i have dug nickles and pennies deeper.
 
It is my opinion that in the ground test only helps the person doing the testing. We all have different ground so what I get in my dirt here in West Virginia doesn't mean anything to somebody in another part of the world.

So for us to compare results the only things we have in common is our equipment and air.
