i have access to a swimming bath's sanded area and it has re-enforced concrete under the sand. could one ground balance the re-enforced concrete out with the vaquero and still find the little lost treasures that may lurk there.bye for now, blowfly

I will cast a no way vote.

forget about trying to "Ground Balance" out the re-bar. It's not going to happen.

I have searched a very few such sites that had a wire mesh embedded in the concrete for stability, and there was an ample amount (depth) of sand atop the mesh-filled concrete that I was able to roughly discriminate or try to reject some effects of the wire mesh and locate lost non-ferrous targets in the sand. I couldn't get great depths, such as down to the bottom of the sand, but they were at least marginally huntable.

NO > :surrender: Often there isn't deeper sand, and too often the re-enforcement in the concrete is re-bar. That is a strong reading ferrous-based metal to deal with an you don't Ground Balance it out. At best you could increase the Discrimination a sufficient amount to try and reject a response from it, but it would be a total waste of time and effort.
