Vaquero High Tone Or Low Tone?

SpiritRelic

New member
I have had the low tone and the high tone.I can't decide on which tone to get next? The low tone was easy on the ears. And i did make some good finds with the high tone and it does wake you up more.Which tone do you prefer? That would be cool on a Vaquero.A variable tone control, like the tejon.I think i will go with the low tone.Because i do have ear trouble, and the low tone would be nice.:-V how about you? :-D

I've owned both. I wish they'd make mid-toned one.:)

I picked up a clean, use V this fall and haven't used it a lot because winter has gotten in the way. That said, the only tones I can compare it to are my other Tesoros. It's obviously the low tone and given my druthers, I'd rather have the high tone that's used by the Silver Sabre umax and Bandito II umax. I'll probably send it in to be changed although I believe the high tone is more similar to the Eldorado and Conquistador which are a bit lower than the SSumax tone. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I just plain prefer the higher tone.

I have tried the low tone Cibola and have a high tone Vaquero.. I like the high tone much better myself.
My other machines have multi tone and the higher the tone, supposedly the better the target ( although gold gives a low tone ).
I have gotten so used to this theory, I prefer the high tone, because it seems to alert me more.
The high tone allows better IDing of iron also.. the signal is more snappy than the smooth sound of a coin, bullet, brass, etc.
Just my thoughts.

I like my low tone, but would love to have variable tones on my V

The 'high' tone on Vaquero is as high or higher than the tone is on the Bandido II

Yeah,i noticed that! When i got the high tone i could not cut the headphones down enough! I am for sure getting the low this time around.Plus it will be my deep relic and coin specialty detector anyway. So nice and mellow. o_O

I liked my high tone Vaq but that is all I ever knew.
Then I got a lower tone Compadre and for a while I liked both, but now I prefer the lower tone, the Vaq seems "screetchy" to me now and is really starting to bother me.

I am sending it in for some service this winter and I think I am going to pay them to change it back to the low tone.

Are you guys trying to confuse me? LOL

Revier nailed it with "screetchy". It's not a clean high tone. Listening to it makes me want to kill something.:)
