Vaquero or Eldorado

I am kinda new at this and dont want to spend a whole lotta money.I do have a Whites CoinMaster 5000D,that weighs over 5 lbs. with batteries,and is uncomfortable to use cuz its heavy and when I swing it,it twists my wrist cuz it lacks the forearm cuff.

At first I thought of an Ace 250 or F2,then upped the budget to a Vaquero or F4.Now I dont want a F4 cuz of the lack of manual GB in Disc. mode.
Then I was looking at used ones and seen an Eldorado for $264.It seemed to have about the same stuff as the Vaquero,manual GB in all modes is the main thing I was lookin for in this N.GA. soil.

If the E. is right at the same as the V. at a lot cheaper price,should I go that route?

First off is depth,Does the V. go deeper than the E?
I know that the V. replaced the E.,But what are the real differences?
What are some pros and cons of each?

I also have looked at the Tejon($398 used) and Bandido 2 uMax($244 used).

Other questions,
Should I buy new with lifetime warranty or used with no warranty?
How good are they about lasting?
 
The F4 does have a preset ground balance postion that can be used but if the ground balance control is used to set the ground balance in all metal mode it also sets the ground balance in discriminate mode.

Have you tried this on a F4?
How can you tell it?

I accually called Fisher and that is what the guy told me.
That you GB it in All Metal,but when you put it in Disc. Mode it automatically goes to a factory preset.So thats the way I took it.
 
I think you will like the Vaquero better than the Eldorado. IMHO. Whether to buy new or used is a question that you will have to answer for yourself . Of course, I would prefer that you buy new.:happy: I always tried to buy new rather than potentially inheriting someone else's problems. That being said, the Tesoro machines are well known for their quality construction. So it is really up to you.
 
[size=medium]the GB on the F4 is only operable in the All Metal mode. Unlike the RS 3300 and Titan 3000 XD (Bounty Hunters) that have the GB operable for both modes, the new Fisher F4 has different circuitry and the Disc. mode's GB is factory preset.

I have heard diffrent stories on the F4,and read that the Titan 3000XD has manual GB in all modes,but didnt believe for the same reason,heard 2 diffrent things,One that it does and one that it dont.I might would go for the 3000XD if it does has GB in all modes.I'll look a bit more in to that,maybe call Kellyco about it.

I had a F4 and it is only manual adjustable in all metal mode. It is a good machine and has accurate id readings. I liked the Silver uMax better than the F4. I am hoping that my new DeLeon will be a good performer - I have to wait until winter is over to find out. The Vaquero would make you a great detector especially if you are needing adjustability for the ground balance. It is always better to buy new if possible but I hear Tesoro usually will fix a detector for free even if bought used, just don't hold me to this. I do know that Tesoro makes fantastic machines and there support and service is second to none. Steve (upstate New York).
P.S. I find that Tesoro detectors are made better quality than the F4 although the F4 isn't that bad.

Why would you get the Vaquero over the Tejon?

I thought the Tejon would be better cause of the extra features on it?
The toggle switch to quickly go from All Metal to Disc. or Pinpoint with a push or pull.

I didn't mean that would be my pick if it was the ONLY metal detector I could own, just that of those three, the Vaquero would be my choice for the applications I would have for it as a 'fit' with the other models I own.[/size]

Hi Monte, i have a question about the golden u max, does the ground balance work in both modes?
 
taking a closer look at the picture i see that it said notch width, time for some new glasses.

WHY THE Vaquero OVER THE Tejon........

because the tejon has lots of bells and whistles (do i need a switchable disc?), because the tejon picks up large pieces of iron(1 in 20 finds) i sold it and kept my explorer xs... despite the tejon beating the xs by 1" on every found coin in my collection and and up to 4".........(12" total depth in air on large bronze lions foot 2" square)......... but there is one roman site the farmer allows us on only one day a year, its been so well covered over the years but still produces 3 or 4 roman coins so i regret selling, i could have held the lighter deeper machine the whole day, the annoyance of digging iron would be a necessary evil!....... so i have just ordered the cibola.(from famous treasures Florida).. same deep 180 circuitry no ground balance to pump up, and cheaper then Vaquero or Tejon.........

The Cibola and Vaquaro do not have the same ED 180 circuitry as the Tejon. The Tejon has a wider acceptance range that accepts lower conductive iron objects than the C and the V. The circuitry on the C and the V is less noisy and more stable than the Tejon. I had a Cibola and it is a good machine.

I've never owned a Tejon but it seems to me that one should be able to determine if the target is iron in most cases. But if you discriminate out those cases when it is questionable, won't you be rejecting some good targets. It seems easy enough to eliminate those possibilities mentally. Of course it takes a good set of headphones to hear those settle differences.
