No difference in performance. One thing for sure, the new 8x11 coil works great.

I posted this a week or so ago in reponse to another question but if fits you question too:

I recently acquired one of the Vaquero's with the new 11X8 search coil.
I may have got lucky with this particular Vaquero as it is smother operating than the others I have had. It ground balances easier too. I just crank the ground balance up into the positive range and back down till its neutral and away we go. It pinpoints nearly as well for me as the concentric coils. Although the 11X8 search coil is a widescan coil I am able to sweep from two directions and center the target with no problems. The coil is a little deeper than the standard 9 x 8 Search coil but this may be do to new coil being larger.
I really like this one.
