Very nice 5 hour hunt gave up a Barber Quarter that's a BLAZER:yikes:

Darrell (deeponedge) ...aka "Swamp Thing" took me to a spot I've had my eyes on for a while...but didn't have permission to hunt.

He obtained permission the day before and popped a few goodies out before hitting it with me Wednesday.

Let's just say it was a very productive 5 hours for us...and we were thrilled.

I really do need to get to work as we are moving fitness equipment around at the YMCA...but I did want to get the pics and post up.

The barber quarter was 8" deep and standing straight up.
I had to dig a small tunnel about 5" off to the bottom left side of the hole to find it.:wiggle:

I'm not sure how I kept from hacking it up...but once I saw the glimmer of silver...I was much more careful.:)

I chipped out a clod and was lucky enough to have the coin come out intact in the clod.

I kept it that way until I got home...scanned it...then popped it out of the clod and scanned it again.

I LOVE it when I get to pop silver out of a clod...and actually wasn't even sure what date it was until I did so.

The best part of the day though was when some goof walked up to Darrell and told us we probably wouldn't find much.:smoke:

He had an attitude about him...cocky...and I didn't like it.

99% of the time if you meet a fellow hunter...it is great...but this guy was a jerk to Darrell:thumbdown:

He informed us that he and his buddy had "pounded" this exact area the weekend before.

Darrell asked him who had given them permission...but the putz didn't have a response.

To be honest...I wanted to punch his lights out:super:..just because of his arrogant attitude:smoke:....and I knew he had hunted without permission which is what ruins it for the rest of us.:ranting:

People like this really rub me the wrong way.

About that time is when I stuck out my hand...which held some wheaties...2 silver dimes...and the big silver in the clod.:)

I thought ol' boy's jaw was going to drop down past his shorts when he saw the coins I had.:help:

He mumbled something about maybe not hitting the spot as good as he originally thought... as he was walking away.

That's when Darrell...being the polite:biggrin:, cordial:) feller' that he is said...."are you sure you had your machines turned on when you hunted here"?

Pretty nice ending to a sweet hunt.

Darrell did well too...ending up with a barber dime and 3 wheaties.

you tell em bryce. been there too when my brother in law and i hunted and old school that i went to as a child. the first time we hit it i noticed a crap load of places someone else had dug and had really done a shi**y job of filling in. the holes were huge and it looked like they were digging holes the size of trash cans. makes me sick to see someone not know how to dig a hole or plug properly. you dont really need that big of a hole for a coin anyway. always a bad apple in the bunch. nice finds too buddy. were you using the minelab? which coil did you use? have a nice day pal.

Just the way they act and the attitude that they have when talking to a fellow hunter just makes you want to put knuckle imprints in their forehead.:punch: Wonder if he even knew who he was chatting with and who you were? Maybe if he knew who you were that would have changed his attitude towards you and "the Swamp Thing".:poke: Easy Deeponedge! I was only kidding!:surrender: I wish I could have seen it when that guy told Darrell that and then seen your finds. Talk about putting one's own foot in their mouth! :puke: WTG though with that Super Nice Barber Quarter Bryce! That sure is a purty Coin you found there! Congrats on that Sweet Find Buddy!:clapping: Hope your next hunt is just as interesting. Thanks for sharing yet another great story and Good Luck and HH to you on your next outing.:detecting:

HAHA Bryce we act the same!! I hate people with bad attitudes... I'm one of the nicest guys you will talk to.. But you run your mouth i'm ready to throw down lol Great finds man!! That quarter is a BEAUTY!!!!!
Derrell

That is a awesome barber quarter Bryce :thumbup WTG..DARRELL sounds like a real hoot i hope i get the chance to Hunt with him sometime. Now the guy that was talking to Darrell wasn't the same grave robbing S.O.B. we ran into two weeks ago was he? :starwars: NICE HUNT GUYS.

You gotta admit that the Barber Q is probably one of the most aesthetically beautiful coins ever made - not like the cr@p they make today....wouldn't it be cool if they started issuing Barber Q's again! People think the Walker half is so great, but I think the Barber Q blows it away and you got a beautiful one there! Congrats! How did it hit? I found that Washington Q a few weeks back that was at a perfect 90 degrees (flipped the plug over and it was in the bottom of it) and hit pretty well with my SE from multiple directions.

Also congrats to Darrell (and you) for putting that arrogant @ss in his place! I wonder what kind or machines they hit it ard with - Radio Shack

I have mellowed out over time

People can say what they want to me....to a point:cool:...and I'll walk away. They can say something about my tattoos....earings....hair...clothes...whatever they want...and I'll do my best to walk away. :)

But...and I mean BUT....if they screw with my buddy...my girlfriend...or my kid.....odds are... they're gonna' get cracked.:super:

This guy was a freakin' moron...and he was a jerk to "Swamp Thing"...so he nearly got popped in the mug.

been taught a lesson if need be.

I think Darrell was getting a little fired up too:jump:...and I thought I might get to see the "Swamp Thing" in action.:bouncy:

Probably a good thing he didn't take a step forward to pop him though...because his pants were hanging halfway down past his butt...and he probably would have tripped and fallen down anyway:crylol:

Sorry Darrell...but it's true:detecting:

The parting comment you gave him though was worth the price of admission:clapping:

Out of many of us there are unfortunately a few Aholes who make it look bad for ALL of us! :buds:

NICE BARBER quarter Bryce!!!:clapping:
I agree with you, that is the nicest one you have posted....
it has a lot of detail. You and Derrell's experience with the fellow
"detectorist" sounds like the exact same thing that happened to
RON(OR) and me last week. Wonder if it is something in the
water??? Congrats on the good hunt buddie!! Gold Nuggets :wiggle:

Wow - sweet find - its in amazing condition - way to go! Too bad about the guy who hunts without permission, what a knob. I wish I could of been there with you guys to see the look on his face when you showed him how much he missed. Ha ha ha
