VID allocations F2

trueblue

New member
can anyone tell me what vid numbers are allocated to each of the target segments on the F2 , also where each tone starts and stops within that two digit range , the manual gives a rough idea but thats all

heres the xterras for example
file.php

Good question.

I can give you a bunch of lists and links to lists of where most targets seem to come in and their #s, (which is slightly different in different soil throughout the country), but the actual cutoff numbers are something I never really tried to find.

From memory I can give you an idea close to where I believe they delineate.
DO NOT QUOTE ME ON THESE!
I am old and my memory is sometimes pitiful.

0-17---Iron
18-28--Foil
29-36--Nickel
37-47--Tabs
48-63--Zinc
64-77--Dime
78 and up--Quarters and larger coins

Keep in mind the F2 is supposed to have numbers from 0-99...but I read somewhere it doesn't...it is missing some.
From the F4 on up all those units use a complete set of numbers.

thanks revier Id still like to know where the tones start and stop and the full specs , I m havin some trouble with low tones in that my hearing cant pick the difference its 3 tone to me

When I hunt, unless I am cleaning up a tot lot, I usually knock out iron and leave the rest.
If I am looking for targets in that low range, I have a Compadre for that, and those tot lots, but from time to time I do turn the iron back on while using the F2.
The only decent thing I have found with the F2 in iron so far is a very small clasp on a very thin chain in a tot lot.
Came in as a solid 06, so now I turn on iron and dig a few of the more solid, steady low numbers in sites that don't have tons of iron trash, which is rare.
There is a possibility small gold can come in at iron and I would hate to miss that, but I usually hunt most of my sites more than once, and I am lucky enough to own more than one detector and the Compadre works better for me in that low end.

Also, the 3 top tones sound pleasant to me, that low tone bothers me.
Maybe because I don't hear it as much I am just not used to it.

I have done a search and can't find the exact numbers where these segments split, which is strange, you would think Fisher or someone else would have posted a list somewhere out there.

I will keep looking.

I just sent an E-Mail to Fisher Labs about this.
Maybe we can get a correct answer from them soon.

if its good enough for minelab ....fisher we need the specs please , I hope they reply to your email REVIER ....I never bothered emailin 'em have emailed tesoro a few times never get a reply ..... hope fisher care enough to answer ...yeah I knock iron out in modern trash but I like to leave it in ghost town hunt'n so I need to pay more att to the vid because the tones are so close for my hearing...I have a couple of tesoros luv'em my most interesting find in iron was a martini henry action breach with 3-4 inches of barrel also dig quite few few nice old iron & brass padlocks from time time using the Tejon ...

Easy thing to figure out.

Manual says you got four tones.

Low tone is iron. Thats a gimme....manual says 1-15.
High tone range is a gimme....it will start at 66 (I just know)

The two middle tones need to be clarified.

You know the middle low tone starts at 16 and ends somewhere between tabs and aluminum screw caps... Get a selection of tabs (including the old square tab variaty) and some aluminum screw caps and see what the breakpoint is.

My bet is the break point of the two middle tones is 55/56.
