In some areas, that do have a fair bit of iron, the ATX will save you a lot of time by NOT digging iron. Iron nuts, bolts, tin can be ID'd as junk. If you are searching for copper and silver targets as I often do, the iron discrimination is a real blessing, along with digging only the low-high signals. You can also learn the approximate size of a target my the distance of the coil swing over a target or the height of the coil over a target with the audio strength.
