VIDEO..How to Pinpoint with the Etrac without ever using the pinpoint button

I have had a couple people ask me how to pinpoint with the etrac or how I pinpoint using the coil wiggle method instead of using the pinpoint button, so today I made a video.

I hope this explains how I do it, and hope this is helpful to those people who have asked for my help. Or maybe a new etrac user, wanting to learn the quickest, most accurate way to pinpoint any target, shallow or deep. In the video I pinpoint a quarter in the ground, dig it and even lay it on the surface to show this method works even if the target is just in the grass.

This video will teach you HOW to pinpoint with the minelab Etrac WITHOUT ever using the pinpoint button. I never use my pinpoint button, this method is not only QUICKER but much more accurate.

You hear the tone of your target, as you wiggle your coil back so you are CERTAIN what your pinpointing. If you use the pinpoint button the etrac goes into all metal mode and it will pinpoint the strongest signal. Which could be a nearby nail, pulltab etc....By using my method you save time and by hearing the tone, while wiggling the coil back, you are positive you are pinpointing the target YOU want.

Thanks Terry, that was a very helpful video. -- Randy

Excellent video Terry. I totally agree, it can be more accurate at times. I started using that type of method a few years back with the explorer II. It had such bad pinpointing especially in trash. But using that type of method, ive done really well. Where most steer clear of the trash infested areas, I tend to gravitate towards em. Sure it takes extra concentration and work, but its allowed me to find some nice keepers in the "hunted out" places. Hehehe

You did an excellent job at showing how to use the technique. Thanks for posting the video for everyone, im sure this will help out many hunters.

Good video Terry. Did you have FAST OFF?

no. I always have fast on

Wonder why it was doing the chop thing? That was the only time I remember getting that much of a chop of the signal is when I have my Fast OFF and I think Deep ON....but I kinda knew you always run with your Fast ON.
