vintage excal has an awfully short cord

checking out how this vintage excal will be. i was dissappointed at the very short cord. sure the item is hip mountable.

but if it had a longer cord u could hang the main unit around ur neck without submerging it. i know its meant for

in water use, but it would have been nice to have the option of keeping her dry . esp if there was a leak in the case or battery pod.or were unsure.

is there any way to replace this cord with a longer one? this is the old 800 with the horse shoe shaped coil that

reads SEA SEARCH
 
If you look at my post in the modification forum you will see that I put a 15" WOT coil on my 1000. Another thing you can do is get some coil wire and a waterproof connector set and solder your desired length to the circuit board and use the waterproof type connector for your existing coil and any other coil you want to use. I can remember when alot of Sovereign/Excal. users were shortening the cables on their coils. They complained that the cables were too long. Some thought that it lessened RF interference. Might be what happened to yours. :shrug:
