Virginia Civil War relic hunters, question:

FrankMD

Member
Anyone familiar with the the CW relic site off of Spotsylvania road (near the ruins of Spotsylvania furnace.) There are trenchs down the the Rappahannock River. I did a lot of hunting there about 25 years ago.

I drove by there yesterday and see No Trespassing signs about every 30 feet for several miles. They are signed "Hunting Club"

Anyone know which hunting club? Anyone still hunt there or know if a person could get permission to go in there?

Thnaks

Frank

Hi Frank,
I'm in the process of trying to locate the exact information you're asking about, I take that road home everyday after work and live right around the corner. I haven't been able to find a phone number yet but am hoping to run into one of the hunters going to or from work. The property has been posted for quite some time, late 80's I believe. I just hope the developers don't get to it like so much of the rest of the area. It's a shame that what makes the area so special in our history and attracts people from all over is being paved over. I'll get back in touch with more info.
Happy Hunting, Tim

Hi Tim. Great. Please do get back to me. That is a very favorite place of mine. Hope you can find out who to contact.

Question: If this is a favorite place to hunt, shouldn't you already have permisison to be on this property? This is exactly how we hunters get a bad rep, by trespassing. All land in Virginia is private property, posted or otherwise, just check with the Game Wardens or police dept. and they'll advise you of the same. Jeff

I hunted it back in the ealy 80's before no trespssing signs.

There I defended myself.

Did I really need to?
