VX3 red, green, blue? bars

Hey guys,
I played with a V3 today. I was strictly in a dealer show room but it impressed me. He pointed out the green, straight line on a good target. I got him to mix in a little trash and the target went jagged. A lot of trash and it broke up a lot. I think this would be super useful in the field. Does it transfer well to the real world? I am an old Whites guy and I would love to jump back into the family. I used an Eagle SL II and never took a liking to the DFX. These Vs have my attention. Please share any thoughts you might have.

Apparently he was showing you the Polar Plot analysis screen. (That is one of a few and it is well liked by many.) The V3i is complex, but so well laid out that I personally think it is easier to learn than the DFX. Big thing to realize is you don't need to get into all the adjusting at once, stick with the basics at first, get those down, learn a bit about the menu system little by little, and you'll love all this machine offers. People who have had a DFX seem to learn it fast but...something to be said about it's no nonsense layout making it comfortable to pick up no matter what you have ran. Baby steps, and then a good run, seem to be the pattern.

Started out with the XLT and went to the DFX that first two mouths or so with the DFX I was ready to wrap it around tree but when I got it set up and learn the detector it worked grate I got my V3i 2 months ago what a detector turn it on make about three or four adjustment and that detector is set and locked in and ready to hunt coins.

Many people do not use the Analyze screen, which can be set up to use a target sizing feature, the polar plot feature, or others. I find the polar plot useful in identifying coins and buttons, but unlike most other people in the forum, I find polar plot very useful in identifying deep iron vs a digable target.

Down to 5" or 6" it transfers very useful to the field (analysis). Beyond that it is still useful (e.g. - to see if it might be a deep good target) buy the quadrant the curvy lines are in. Left and usually it is iron.

If you get the machine a great way to learn it is with a coin garden - almost mandatory. Even when you get to a new site it is advisable to bury a coin and see what settings work best. That said, I mostly stick with the 5hz band filter. It seems I can't go wrong around here. You will also find a nice recovery delay for yourself and stick mostly with it (unless the trash level changes.) The same is true for sensitivity to a point. I'm just trying to say the machine is not really that complicated, it's more at first but once you see how things work together, it all makes sense.

Hi cometguy, Yes i too am a old Whites Guy, I started in 1988 With the 2econd Eagle a Blue Box had it for 2 years and got the Eagle II SL 90 Black Box,
I still have the Eagle II SL 90 today for a Backup and it will still hang with the Best, Through the years iv stayed with Whites , Quantom / 6000 Pro / XLT / DFX / M6 / DF-PI and others i can`t rember?
I had the V3i for a year i Loved it, But i got a Wiled Hair and swaped it for a Minelab SE-Pro cozz i was hearing it went DEEP for SILVER??? well Never found Deep Silver??
Swaped for a VX3 yes i miss the Bells N Wistles but you know the VX3 is a V3i without all the Other stuff you don`t use anyway, I even think it works verry well without the other stuff
i Like it just the same, You see i think it can lock on a good target and Ground Ballance Better cozz it can focus on what a Detector is Post to do?? without thinking of the other
