Waist waders with built in shoes

Thanks Bruce,

I sent in my order ten minutes ago!

I'm ready to get out of these waders!!

Do you have the neoprene or latex neck gasket and what do you recommend?

(I probably ordered the wrong one!!)

CJ,

Let us know how the suit works out? Thanks.

Steve

The suit is well made and I need to trim the arm seals to my wrist size and stretch the neck seal so I can use it comfortably.

The double extra large fits like it was custom made for me and my 250 pound body.

Next time I put it on I'll see if I can get a photo for you.

The only complaint I have so far is how hard it is to zip the waterproof zippers open and closed.

I'm going to see if a little bee's wax will help, as the manufacturers warn against using silicone in any form. (it gets into the material making repairs just about impossible)

CJ

Thanks CJ, yes a photo or 2 would be nice. Let us know if the beeswax works. I looked at one but they did not have the xxl so I was unable to try it on. I did unzip and re-zip it. A small pair of vise grips would help in this endeavor! Does yours have the rubber or the titanium coated neoprene neck gasket?

Best Regards,
Steve

I went with the neoprene neck gasket, but if I had diving plans the latex would have been better!

I hope not to be so deep that I have to worry about more that splashing on the neck gasket.

The bee's wax made a huge difference after I coated every surface of the zipper and it is still tighter (harder to pull) than I would like.

Of course if that means "drier" I'll live with it!!

I'm hoping to take her out for a shake down cruise tomorrow AM!!

Hello CJ,
Thanks for the update! I will be looking forward hearing about the suit after you give it a go. A question. What makes you believe the rubber neck gasket would be better then the neoprene gasket? Thanks again!

Kind regards,
Steve

Neoprene for comfort in wading situations (low pressure so no leaks and easy on the skin), latex where you really want water proofing such as diving where there is pressure to force water in the suit!!

Mr CJ,
Got it! Thanks for the reply.

Best Regards,
Steve

Yes!!!

I made it worse by ordering it with the "tunnel" option.

It's a piece of neoprene wrapped around the suit in a way that makes it useful for kayaking, but interferes with donning the suit.

Once on closing the zipper is a challenge too.

Once everything is closed tight I was comfortable except that my old thermal union suit wasn't good enough to keep me warm.

The dry suit has rapid heat loss and no insulating value at all.

Tomorrow I have to find a hollow-fill insulated set of cloths to wear in the suit so I don't freeze this winter!

I'll remove the tunnel tomorrow and hopefully that will make a difference.

As an overweight 68 year old I need to find an easier way!!

Thanks for your reply,

CJ
