Want to start park hunting with my Vaquero to find gold jewelry

With a manual ground balance, coils do not have to be tuned to the detector. The coil itself can become out of tune for various reasons, dropped, bumped against trees, left in extreme temps, etc. That is why they suggest sending your coils in with your detector so they can be checked also.

The way I hunt now i really don't need to use the pinpoint button. I can pinpoint pretty easily just going over the target. My big thing is making sure I have the ground balance right. A lot of times I don't recheck an area to make sure the ground hasn't changed.
All you got to do is hit the pinpoint to check the ground balance right?

If I don't have it supertuned I can do that. I just forget, that's all. When I'm in an area I assume the ground balance should be the same, but that's not always the case

Bobby, you can still do it supertuned, just decrease you threshold, check it and then max it back out again.

Rings aren't generally very deep. You won't need to supertune and it will only give you fits in a trashy area. I prefer the DD 5x10 specifically for jewelry hunts although a concentric is fine for the task.
If hunting rings, they will give a solid repeatable signal unless broken. Just like a beaver tail tab or coin. All round objects especially complete loops do this.
That's why flat washers give a good hit.

If searching for all jewelry, then you need to dig all except iron. Even then, I have an thin 18k cross that comes in at iron.
Foil will drive you crazy. There is a lot of it vs jewelry. After a while you will have to decide if its worth going that low just to find the occasional chain or earring.
I've concluded that those small jewelry items aren't worth the effort of all the foil. However, It depends on the area, the trash, and my energy level.

Best thing to do is keep goin at it and see what happens. I'll use my 5.75 concentric

Im just glad im getting it back all freshened up

You need to detect at a slower pace with the Vaquero correct? I want to make sure I don't miss anything by swinging too fast
