Wanted To Buy: Custom Rod to mount older Minelab Sov XS

gfatizzi

Well-known member
Just bought a nice older Sovereign XS and I need a custom rod set up to mount everything up on. Hopefully it would already include a V-clip rear mounted under or behind elbow. I will be using a Ron's 180 meter so I don't need a V-clip for the meter but would take one anyway for a spare. Willing to pay up to $100.00 for the complete set up. Can pay PayPal gift. Please help me out!

contact Plugger, he builds custom shafts and is a Sovy user himself. He has an eBay store so you can see his stuff, here is his email;

William Quinn [plugger1946@gmail.com]

I like them way better than Andersen and am running 2 or 3 plugger shafts on my Minelab units right now. Built by hand with hand tools in the USA...(if you can call California the US)

Yeah I've seen his stuff already on the internet but all the older Sov set ups have dried up due to the V clip shortage. That's my main problem, I only have one V clip on the stock rod I have as well. I guess the only place to get one new would be England from the big distributor of there (Joan Allen?).

got the upper stock shaft and 2 V clips if this will help

plugger has the v clips, he just built 2 custom straight shafts for me with v clips mounted on top of the handle to fit my digi meters on.

n/t

Well if he DOES have the V clips, he stopped building rods that he's advertising for. He doesn't have any on the big E so they might be from his own person collection. I've e-mailed him hopefully he will respond. Guess I should have moved quicker on Bling's set up, you beat me to the punch Windage. Thought you already said you have a couple of custom rod set up? Need more? LOL George

If anyone is looking for V clips, try Keith Wills at East Texas Detectors. Short time ago I inquired about them and he had some at about $6 each or so. E mail is kwills@etex.net

Hope this helps

Thanks for everybody's help. I got in contact with Plugger and decided to just go with a rear extension mount on my stock S-rod. That should help balance everything out nicely at 1/3 the cost.

I called Plugger back and decided to go with the full straight rod set up after all. This way I have the option to use my stock rod set up with another smaller coil and just move the box with the rear extension to each rod as I see fit. Pretty cool idea. Can't wait to get this bad boy! HH, George

Didn't intend to cut in front of you, gfatizzi, I sent bling a PM saying I would take that shaft if you didn't want it, bada bing, bada boom, before you know it, I owned another shaft...life in the fast lane ! I am small coil to mount on that shaft for the Sovy..

You will love working with Bill, (aka plugger) and his shafts, they are so much lighter that the stock tubes, the grips and angle is so nice, plenty of good hardware included. He has ways to fix most any issue with comfort or balance..
