War of 1812 Ft. finds....Reale!

Hi guys well Yesterday and today were wonderful days here in Mo. We decided to test the new Teknetics T-2 metal detector at a place we were familiar with War of 1812 fort has been available to detectorists for over 20 years and it sure is a fun place to detect... it has been well hit over the years and finds are usually very slow and meager in coming...
I have to say I'm so impressed with the T-2 I cant believe how easy it was to set up and use there.
Most of the finds were 4-6 in. deep we would have found them with any machine but one of the buttons we found was 12. deep it was smaller than a half dime and it rang out loud and clear on the T-2 , we could barely get a signal with my DFX and Minelab on the same target both of those machines had to be tweaked until they were barly stable just to register the button but the T-2 was only at 50% the machine is a relic hunters dream!!
Well we had some really good finds there and we should have continued success with the Teknetics T-2!!!

Steve got a 1781 half reale at 9 in. and I got a 1786 2 reale around the same depth...

Over the years I looked to into many Historical Sites. Years ago I didn't really care about the proof so I didn't have the cameras and tools that I use today when I want to document finds.
Your right about many of the sites being off limits.:veryangry: But let's say that we want to work a historical battlefield for relics. We know the exact location and year of the Battle, and we're not allowed there. But not so far away was the campsites and places where horses were watered at the creeks and rivers. These 1&2 day away campsites aren't off limit to us now. And sometimes a little homework goes a long way! Just my opinion! But then again I'll do just about anything to get a relic find!
Heck I'll even take the grand children out with me! hehehee And the wife loves that!

I thank my luckey stars everyday that we still have spots like that to detect... theres alot more here also, spots we dont mention because they havnt been hit hard at all!!
I guess the historic plaque is confusing everyone.... its has nothing to do with the state or archeologists... there are historic societies run by private people here in mo. and they place plaques on private property to show it was a historic site, and thats what that plaque is put there by private citizens....there is one guy who has 28 acres an existing entrenchment, 4000 troops styed there through out the war and the bridge was burned down 3 times by the confederates and the state wants nothing to do with his property!! after a few articles in the newspaper the county finally put a small plaque on his property, now if it was state property or even conservation land I'd def. be in the pokie!!! conservation land owns some nice spots around here boy I'd love to be able to detect them!

My wife and her parents visited Fort Robinson, where they hunted open, plowed fields with the avid approval of the curator, whom her dad knew personally. Didn't even need a metal detector! Of course, this was long ago in the late 60's.
