Warranty and "blank card"

Just a hypothetical question...
I bought my ID Excel used. It came with a "blank" warranty card. I understand that Fishers' warranty is nontransferrable, but can repairs be covered under warranty if you got your detector used but have a blank card???
Thanks!

Well, if you bought the detector and it has a blank warranty card AND if the machine has never been registered either by phone, online, or perhaps by the original seller, then if you send in the warranty card you will now be the registered user and have a full warranty. But it should be mentioned that having a "blank warranty card", while it may SEEM to indicate the machine has never been registered, is not always the case. I just sold a Minelab Sovereign Elite. I had a blank warranty card with it that I could have included. Problem is, I registered mine over the phone with Minelab in Vegas and the lady there told me it wasn't necessary to send the card in. So just be sure that "blank warranty card" actually means it hasn't been registered. The ID Excel is new enough that I don't even think Fisher would argue that if somebody sold it before it was registered that they shouldn't have to cover it. Now if you have a machine that was 3 years old and try to go register it as new you may have a problem, since they are serialized.

Matter of ethics for one thing and am sure many feel someone should get the warranty even if they are not the original owner.Heres the problem many manufactures require a proof of purchase from the dealer to fix under warranty and can tell by ID numbers the age of unit.
By the way I just purchased a brand new CZ6A( hasn't been made in years out of old dealers stock)I will have the dealer invoice, be the first owner and will get a 5 year warranty as that was the warranty at the time of the manufacture.
In other words since I now have a Fisher expect me to participate in the forum. Perhaps you are smiling as I helped many or frowning as I may have rubbed a few along the way the wrong way. In either case good hunting and wish all a happy, healthy prosperous 05..
Fisher warranty is only for the first owner and is not valid otherwise.

Dan, it's so nice to see your post about "ethics". I really appreciate your candor and know you practice what you preach having dealt with you on a detector purchase. As far as i'm concerned when you buy anything used unless the warranty is transferable by the factory your deal is with the seller not the manufacturer. If you want a legitimate warranty buy from an authorized dealer. Just my humble opinion!

Some people have a car dealer order their new vehicle and have it built exactly like they want it. Other people don
