Was so glad to be back to work...then

after working almost 8 hours one of the bosses asked who called me in to work. I explained that I had a return to work slip from the doctor and wanted to get back to work and probably needed to get back to work to get off workmens comp status. I asked if I should set up a schedule for Jeremy (a guy they hired while I was off on comp) and myself so we knew what days to be here (they never want both of us working the same day - not in the budget). She said that Brian also needs hours too. If I heard right Brian - whoever he is - had started working there and quit because he refused to work certain days and hours. So now there are 3 people trying to get hours - my hours?
Oh wait,.. the guy they had working with me over the winter...was working - yesterday too.

The boss lady said to 'be on call' and don't come in unless I call first to see if anyone else is there already. Say what? I had thought I was the primary maintenance guy.
I had this discussion a couple times before about one guy getting my 40 hours in a week and I was getting only 20. There seems to be no change.

I was looking for another job elsewhere in the MichiganWorks database and found across the way is another hotel looking for maintenance. I already filled out a job app there awhile back - over a year now. Just noticed that the name of the hotel changed over there and isn't what MichiganWorks has it listed as.

Interestingly when I applied for the job over there when I saw their ad the first time...it also had the same name but they said they posted no ad for maintenance. Turned out to be a mix up at MichiganWorks....it was for the hotel I work at now. Hmm...wondering is there yet another mix up at MichiganWorks and the hotel I work for is looking for another maintenance guy?????

Color me confused. Was going to talk to the boss guy the other day and he split before I had a chance to sit down with him...haven't heard or seen him since. Oh well God will work something out.

PETE do you think it could be an age factor?if so,you have a law suit against them or report them to the state office for discrimination of age.

Be patient and know that God is working it all out for you, Pete! I think you need to talk to the head people at the hotel and find out what is going on! You can tell them that you need work for the money to pay the bills and you were hired to work regular hours! If they don't agree then God will open up another door or window where you will get more hours and days! First we help ourselves with God's guidance and then when we've done all we can, we stand firm on Jesus the Rock and believe all will be well with us and our families! I never would like waiting to be called in to work, as I am too impatient and don't like to be near a phone while doing something else, so for you to have a job like that is something but not much better than nothing! Soooooo, pray and tell God what you need and want in the name of Jesus, for you are His Child and He loves you and you love Him! Amen! God Bless! Betty
