Went back to finish the trough where I had found the silver necklace and religious medallion.

hunted 2 hours ...here's what I found

Will post cleaned and shined treasures later

Thank you , God for letting me find these treasures!

p.s. the roosters get up late around here!

Does your 1916 merc happen to have a D on the back???? If it does you have a KEY date dime worth hundreds. DON'T CLEAN it if it does.

Great finds.

It's environmently damaged anyway, and the process will only remove that crud, and if there is a D there... the coin can still fetch a good price in any condition. I can't remember who has the step by step instructions on how to perform the electrolitic procedure their web-page, but, I will try to find it and run it to you.

The process has to do with a electrical adaptor, its wires shaved and an alligator clips on one side and a spoon on the other with a glass filled with water and baking soda I believe, and you place in the water next to the spoon and all the crud comes right off. I saw my friend do it to a half dollar I got from the beach, and it came out looking pretty good, and mine had much more crud on it. You can tumble it, but the tubling will leave pitting on the coin, so not the way to go... Hope this helps...

Good finds, Lorraine! I know silver coins that are found in the ocean by scuba divers can be cleaned, as Roy Volker used to have the silver pcs of eight and silver relics cleaned of all the crud and blackness on them! Not sure how he did it or had it done......but I'm sure you can find something on the Internet about cleaning silver found in salt water! Sooooo, go to it Historian gal! ;) :) You are finding the old silver and gold......WTG!! :clapping:

God Bless!
