Water antenna?

For the water setup, does anyone know if you have to use RG 179 coaxial cable for the antenna or can you use something else?

You can use any shielded cable.

Thanks for the reply. I figured it out, I remember that Andy had the modification in his Deues book. I used an RG6 cable and it works perfect.

I found this guys YouTube video very helpful. His measurements were off a bit. For the optimum reception with RG179 coax @ 70% velocity factor & 2.44 GHz center frequency of the XP Deus, the exact measurement should be 2.15 cm. Then upbraid the shield 2.15 cm and fold it back with a total length of 4.3 cm.Then put a 5 cm small heat shrink on and your good to go.

I found the coax on Ebay for $9.35 US for 5M. Enough to do two detectors.

Works great, just a little trickier now compacting the Deus down when traveling with the coax inside of the shaft. I usually take off the coil to fit it into my suitcase now.

Good luck!
