Water Detector for LandLubber?

Hey Folks:

I am a landlubber that has become fascinated with the prospect (pun!) of shallow water detecting. My experience has been primarily parks, old homesites, etc. Past detectors were a Sov XS2a and MXT (stolen :( ). Currently using a Quattro which I am quite happy with.

I want to try lake hunting - swimming areas and inland beaches. I also like the idea of being able to land-hunt in the rain. I am not a diver, and probably won't become one - but you never know.

Would one of the "scratch-and-dent" Cobras be a good starter to experiment with, or are they too "toy-like"? Price is hard to beat... Also thinking of maybe a DetectorPro Diver. Excalibur would be nice - especially since I have a WOT and Joey for it - but pretty pricey...

Another thought is a used Sov with the control box in a waterproof container. See, I have too many possibilities!

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,
Wally

A HeadHunter wader. Good to 6' or in the rain. Great for shallow wading searches. Reasonable sensitivity to small gold. I have the diver and love it. It will also work on salt sand with a little falsing at the wave break line.
Check out Mr Bill's site, he has some good deals on right now!
