Water huntng the Memphis area

Reeseb

Member
I'm sitting up here in frozen Minnesota wanting to take a trip south. Are there any lakes in the Memphis area that have old beaches on them?

Or new well used Beach's. I'm interested also.

The Memphis area sets within a half hour or so of two additional states, Ms and Ak. Both of those states within a hour or so drive have beaches that can be hunted. Some are Corp Of Engineer impoundments State Parks and a few are state parks with small natural lakes. Ak I know requires a permit to detect and detecting only can be done this time of the year.

If it was me, I would drive the additional 7 or so hours down to ocean beaches of Ms or Al and the Fl pan Handle is another hour or so. I say this as impoundment water temps. are now into the mid to upper 50"s and dropping.

Reeseb, what part of Mn are you from? We spend a month or so each summer in the Park rapids area and my wife and I both grew up in Moorhead. HH jim tn

Thank you, Jim. I'm in the St. Paul area. I moved here from Seattle in 2013.

It gets a bit nippy up your way. We have been down here since 1976. Not going to say anything more about Mn winters, but summer is pretty special up there. HH jim tn
