Waterproof bag for detectors?

Crispy Critter

New member
I'm not sure if this subject has ever been touched on in this forum but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a waterproof bag that can be used while canoeing or kayaking to transport a detector safely. Not a pelican case but a soft type bag?

Thanks in advance for any ideas or info.

Any place that sells canoes and kayaks should have various size waterproof bags. They're not cheap, but they are absolutely waterproof when used properly. If you have a one piece shaft, you might not find one long enough.

Thanks Dave. I'll check into it. I'll be using an E-Trac.

Agree! Using an ET you can break it down and I have a nice waterproof bag I got at REI. It's soft. You put whatever you want to keep dry inside the bag and then you fold the end over on itself a few times and buckle it shut. Water then would have to seep around two or three really tight corners to infiltrate. It's not made for the pressure of diving but it certainly would keep anything dry that fell out of the canoe. Might even use it for an emergency float to hang on to. jim
