Waterproof PP

I have a Harbor Freight pin pointer and don't believe the probe portion can be immersed in dihydrogenmonoxide without it being damaged.

Are any of the more expensive PPs waterproof? The probe portion anyway?

Garretts Pro Pointer is water resistant.
I've used mine in watery mud and temporary water emersion and had no problem.
Vibraprobe unit are water proof.

Ever thought about Plasti-dip?

It has been palsti dipped, however after years of running it through dirt and rocks, I'm not sure the coating is totally intact. If there is a pinhole in the coating and water infiltrates into the probe, I am fearful the unit may be irreparably damaged. I suppose I could place a condom over it when probing underwater holes.

Vibra-Probe 580, totaly water proof to 100 feet, very tough and durable, also no switches to mess up lasts a long time on one 9v battery, have one and love it. Well worth the money, detects all metal from 2 inches only at the tip, which makes it good for pin pointing!

Hey, DHMO vapor is a MUCH more potent greenhouse gas than is carbon dioxide. Maybe Al Gore should start trading "water credits."

We are all doomed you know. It is the democratization of the USA that did it. The notion that the more people that have a say in a decision, the better the decision will be is as wrong as wrong can be.

I have used my Bounty Hunter/Fisher pinpointer in water to the length of the probe with no problem.

I use both an Automax Precision V4 and a Garret Pro in water, (just the probe only) and they seem to be fine.

Plastidip is a soft, rubber-like material. After an outing or two of plowing around in holes, there are scratches on the tip and I don't know if they are deep enough to have broken the seal.
