Waterproofing a Sov made easy...

Would love to be able to afford an Excalibur, however, is there a quick and easy way to just put a Sovereign's control box into a waterproof box of some kind? I quess I would have to also come up with a waterproof pair of headphones. Would like to be able to just make the settings on the Sov and then put it into a waterproof box. All I do is wade some of the swimming holes in the area during the hotter parts of Summer. Any help would be appreciated, thanks...Ray in Waco, TX.

Have seen some as simple as putting the Sov in a waterproof box.
Have seen with external controls.
Very inventive mods by Sov users.

Unless your fighting waves at the outerbanks you might want to try what worked for me...I found a garage sale baby back carrier..tore off the canvas baby seat and mounted a thin board across the top as a platform..got a plastic lock and seal box at WalMart that the Sov would fit into..cut slits in lip to allow cords to pass through..then sealed with heavy tape..Be sure to tape side only to allow access by sealing the top back on..Just turn on..set to disc..and put back pack on and wade in...box is above shoulder height about 2 inches and is pretty much spalsh proof..Don't Trip..HH BigDave

Why don't you buy one of the Minelab Soverign bags for the control box. Then its protected from the elements and you cna hip mount it

I put mine in a waterproof box without modifying the Sov. Heres's a couple of pics.

is it waterproof or slashproof? What make of box is it and where did you purchase it?

Before I cut the holes for the wiring, it was completely waterproof. Now, I would say rainproof, I wouldn't dive with it. I believe I bought a couple from Boaters World on the internet. I bought sevral styles at different prices so I could play around.

what are the inside dimensions of that box ? And is that a Pelican case ?
Thanks
JP
