We are thinking of having a relic hunt down south... And we'll be making sure it's a good site... Any takers?

C.C., i feel for you man, don't know what to tell you.
i guess you're on their other list. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

finally a relic hunt! so tired of competition coin hunts!

it was a coinhunt including competition coinhunting. it was about 16 years ago at wray's campground in indiana. it was fun, you pretty much got your entry fee money back in silver finds. i wanted to try it and see what it was like.
what i observed at the hunt was that the older folks got smoked. the younger pups moved like lightening and covered the ground very quickly.
anyway, it was fun. they had some nice raffles to win small treasure boxes full of old coins. and the competiton hunt prizes were nice too. the people were real nice and i had a great day. it was within driving distance for me, so i went to try it.
but, i never went to another organized hunt.
i have a hard time talking myself into paying for an organized hunt and travel when i can just go out and make some nice finds on my own.

I still do like hunts like that but I do not go expecting much for finds, if anything at all. It's hard to fork out the cash for expenses when I can do a local trip here and when it's all said and done probably have enough in finds to cover what I paid for the week.
A major paid hunt is a great idea but finding a "good" site I don't think would be the easiest thing to do. If it were my choice I'd rather detect several fields in New England that had early activity than a CW area that has seen other detectors.
