We Must Persist In Praying for Others
I said to the Lord: "You are my God; hear the voice of my supplications, O Lord. O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation." Psalms 140:6
The Lord is willing to listen to the prayer of faith as when He walked visibly among men. The natural cooperates with the supernatural. It is part of God's plan to grant us, in answer to the prayer of faith, that which He would not bestow did we not thus ask. God cannot intervene when He hasn't been invited.
In the conflict between the kingdoms of light and darkness, both forces honor human freedom of choice or rather, one honors and the other complies, since the devil would in an instant attempt to force us against our choice were God not binding him to this rule of engagement. But because of free choice, God Himself may not intervene in a life that clearly has chosen to reject Him. Were He to do so, the gaurdian demon would immediately howl protest!
It is for that reason that intercessory prayer is so strategic for God's kingdom. For while it is true that God cannot answer a prayer that is not prayed.....and clearly, the resistant one is not praying for intervention.....He can certainly respond to someone else's prayer on hehalf of the recalcitrant soul. To the demonic protest all God need reply is "I have come to this child at the behest of her (or his) mother, who is a friend of Mine." Free choice is still being guarded, but Love is now granted permission through the prayerful intercessions of another.
With prayer lists in hand, we must keep on our knees. DO NOT QUIT! Your intercessions may be the one green light God's been needing to win back that life for eternity. May this encourage us to pray more. God is so compassionate towards us. We are always on His mind.
