We Need Rain

It's just to dry to be hunting and we sure do need rain. It was nice to be able to hunt that condemned house, that was a bonus hunt. I am in the mood to detect and no place to go specially with the dry grounds. :sadwalk: Come on rain...........let it pour! :please:

Now that school is out, is a good time to hit the tot lots for those who have to get their fix detecting. There are usually a lot of goodies there and tot lots are #2 behind beaches for jewelery finds. Speaking of beaches, they are fair game during the dry season as well.
 
As much as I hated to I put the DFX up. It's just way to dry here and no real rain in sight. Oh well, It's gave me some time to work on my high power rockets.
 
There is talk of rain Sunday, but what we got last weekend wasn't even enough to run to the bottom of my rain gauge. Just a couple droplets on the inside wall. But even if we did get an inch, this Sunday, that doesn't mean the ground is moist enough to dig. So what will it take to return the soil to acceptable condition? 2", 3" . By the way it is so dry here that I am able to pull dandelions without breaking the roots off at the ground. Some are coming out with 6' and more root showing.
 
Wow, that [size=large]IS[/size] a long root, 6 feet, I didn't know they went down that deep. :biggrin:
 
We grow everything big here in farm country. 6" is what I thought I typed. They will go down 2 or 3 feet, and if you don't get it all, it will come back. By the way I found one of those crop circles here in town.
 
Yes, it will take a lot of rain day and night and then some for it to soak in the ground for detecting. I don't see it in the forecast. Dave, you got more rain than we did. I'm surprised at all the brown yards around and this is only June.
 
What??? You found a "crop circle"? Did you get any pictures? Would love to see it too. HH, Nancy
 
We got an inch of rain here in Wyoming before sunset, but with that came a few minutes of dime sized hail. Not hard, just sort of scattered. I really didn't think it was big enough to do much damage but as the pictures show, my tomatoes got beat up pretty bad. I also included a picture of the crop circle I was telling Nancy about. It was a dead ringer for the ones Larry posted, but with a couple good waterings, it is starting to green up a little.

What you got is just West of us heading this way, even an inch would be very welcome here.
 
Boy, you had me hook line and sinker Dave. I had no clue it was going to be that type of "crop circles". It's good to see the grass is growing back.

And for that garden of yours. OH MY!!! You've got a very good looking garden and hope the hail didn't do too much damage. Do you can any of your veggies?

PS: We got a lot of rain. I don't know how much but our birdbath is full! :wiggle::wiggle:
 
We got another level inch overnight. and a very small greenish yellow formation just popped up on the weather radar, so perhaps another shower here in a little bit. But it is already very muggy outside and they were calling for 91 degrees today. I freeze alot of veggies, but I don't put anything up in jars.
 
We could use more rain. A friend of mine taught me how to freeze tomatoes the easy way. Wash and put them in freezer bags. When you need tomatoes for soup/stew, sauces, etc. Just pull one or two out and run it under water. The peel slides right off and you're good to go. I'm hoping to freeze some this year. Last year's crops were terrible.
 
Are the "crop circles" as big as the ones that Larry came across? That's terrible if so and someone needs to be taught how to retrieve a target. Thanks for sharing them Dave. HH, Nancy
 
There was only one and I wasn't able to compare it to my 10" coil, but I would say right at 11 or 12".
