Weather Forcast

Oh My Gosh this Kansas weather is killing me. Got all excited with some good dirt digging 50 degree days, got my fill of tabs & bottle caps for the new year. But also found a couple of fun items that keeps my interest alive. Kinda like the game of golf, you curse & bleep that you will never play the game again, then hit a good ball & can't wait until you can go play another 18 holes. Well dang it, I want to get out detecting on my days off and this dang snow showed up again. If I had a good pool of silver, & gold that I could do air testing on & get that sound down pat better I guess then spending the days inside wouldn't be as bad but shoot fire I'm not married so don't even have any gold. What do you all do for entertainment when the weather puts you inside??

I hear ya, nothing but snow snow snow and below zero temps here. I'm about ready to go crazy:wacko:

When I'm not able to detect for different reasons....I have a Kindle with a bunch of how-to metal detecting books and Lost Treasure stories loaded on It. I like to go on Google Earth and zero in on where those stories/accounts of stagecoach/train/bank robberies took place and also where shipwrecks that were carrying shipments of gold and silver coins and ingots went down!.
Realising that some of those stories are not quite accurate or possibly just made up, they still fire my imagination up and get me thirsting for future metal detecting detecting trips:detecting:. I live in hopes that one day I can come across a few rusty cans of uncirculated :clapping:GOLD $20 DOUBLE EAGLES!::clapping:

I think that I would almost be happy to find a couple of pull tabs and some clad; anything to get outside. This (NW Indiana) winter seems like it will never end. I bought a new Minelab Safari last month and haven't even put batteries in it.

I'm in Nebraska and I can totally relate. I'm itchin to get out. I've bought a few accessories and cleaned up all my stuff. Now.... I wait.

Oh I'm getting excited, looks like it might get to the 50's on Saturday, that should at least get some ground thawed enough. I went to the lake the other day & the ground was frozen so couldn't dig. This latest cold front has given me time to re-read some detecting magazines :)

It's hard to sleep at night wondering if spring will ever get here to Wisconsin. However, I am busy reading all I can get my hands on both in print and online. Have viewed some of the You Tube Safari videos 2-3 times. Of course, I am still busy tumbling my dirty clad coins from last year so they will be acceptable in the bank's coin machines. I have about four loads to go to finish up the jars of dirty clads. I also purchased yet another 30-pak of double AA alkalizes for $11.99 at Farm & Fleet. Those Safari's with 28 frequencies are hard on batteries. Of course, all of this pre-hunting work will be worth it once I can get outside on a nice warm day with my Safari. Best of luck to all of you in 2014.

RNB rechargeable battery pack is the only way to go...best investment I made

If the snow is not too deep the woods is usually huntable the ground never seems to freeze all the way. I do research and drive around looking for possible places. Also walk in woods or drive around wooded areas looking for clues of old home sites in woods. you can really see for aways since leaves are gone. I look for rodadendra bushes and come spring easter lillys since neither grows wild there has to be a reason they are in middle of woods.

:detecting: Sweet had a little relief from the cold, it got up to 45 today so I went to a friends home & detected the front yard. Didn't find any silver but at least I found a couple wheat penny's 1940 & 1944 not to mention the fun I had finally being able to get out and swing the machine. Another cool find was a old make-up thing, LOL terrible I'm a women & don't know what its called but remember my mom having one way back when I was a kid. It's just a little round thing with rouge or something like that in it. Not worth anything but kinda a cool find.
