Well, with the long weekend I was finally able to take a day to get off that ladder & "Git R Dun!" with a shovel. I took a bunch a pictures...& wouldda had a couple more but my batteries died in mid-shoot
But, anyhow.....for part one I'll take you though the steps & then string all the pics together since I don't know how to put words in between. The site: colonial cellar hole that's been hunted many times as it's right along a main dirt road. I hunted it a couple times too. But with tons of iron around the foundation I figured some small goodies had to be masked under the bed of square nails. First step....wack down brush/ferns with sickle. Then I ran Excel w. disc @ -34 to begin yanking out iron. We left alotta large iron in the ground & that had to go. First signal...a hand-forged colonial door latch. Not bad....that's another good thing. That often iron @ a colonial site can be "good iron" keepers
Then I stripped off some of the leaf litter & took a break for lunch
My first signal after getting all the big iron outta the way was a silver colonial shoe buckle...hand engraved, Revolutionary era, & a great find....
