Felt good to get out again, but had to go 400 miles south to do it... I got this at the N/S hunt... First Cobb, anyone that can ID or date it would be appreciated

got these as well... regiment of rifles early 1800's buttons

Reminds me of the Charles the pretender monogram (early 1700s) but I can't find a picture to match it up.
Talk about making me hungry to go out and look for one myself.

Nice ...very nice
You can be sure is an spanish coin ...because you can see the castles and the lions (castilla y leon). And the cross ...

The closest I have found so far is an early 1700 Charles III Pretender era, which I think would be Peruvian mint. They had a milled very early 1700's that was monogramed on the Obv with large letters which I believe is what is on yours. I reversed the photo and sure looks like a definite big letter A on the OBv and parital letters with it.
Sorry, not much other help than to lead you in that direction...
Don

You might be right, a guy at the hunt said it was a lima mint.. I thought I see 72 on it so maybe 172x something

I'm quite sure 1720 post dates Charles III Pretender.
I have seen the monogram on the early milled coins, and the portrait type like mine, but have not seen it on the hammered like your's. Could be, but I'm not betting the farm yet.

when I got it, there were 2 other cobs found as well.. mine is only a half reale, one guy got a 2 reale cob, and another a full 8 reale cob.. 3 Elizabeth Hammered silvers as well... this site had some old stuff!

you know jim nice find .. i have found a lot of cobs underwater hunting on spanish wrecks , i cant tell you exactly but it s not lima . looks mexico mint 1672? would be carlos 11
