Weekend started out good but ended a day short!

This weekend started out good but it ended suddenly on Sunday Evening. I was at a Ball Diamond about 70 miles from where I live and some kids started to show up for Practice I guess. I figured I would go check out another spot that I know yields some finds still and when I got everything loaded back into the Van, I started the Vehicle and was about to leave when I noticed the Check Engine Light was on.:rage: Earlier in the week I had this same problem and the Check Gauges came on with the Battery Light. I then went and had my Battery and Alternator checked out and they both tested fine. I guess the Alternator gets hot and stops working since it was tested cold. Anyways, I had enough juice to get back and luckily there was a Semi-Truck that I got behind and stayed in his Back Draft to try and reserve as much power as possible. I finally made it home and was going to pull the Positive Cable off the Battery to check to see if the Alternator was indeed bad. I had turned off the engine and when I tried to turn it over, there wasn't even enough juice to make the Starter even click. Talk about a close call! Anyways, here is what I found the time I did get out. I found 9 Silver this time out. I got 2 Walking Liberty Halves dated 1935 and 1935-s (both found Saturday), 2 Washington Quarters dated 1936 and 1943-d, 4 Mercury Dimes dated 1920 (might have had an S mint mark),1928,1935, and 1940-d, and 1 Roosevelt Dime dated 1952-d. I also found 1 Indian Head Penny dated 1895 at the Ball Diamond at about 2" Deep. It was hard to pinpoint for some reason because I was getting multiple hits. I just Pinpointed and found the loudest Target and dug it and there was the Indian Head. I also found 12 Wheat's dated 1911,1917,1927,1927-d,1928-d,1929-d,1941-d,1944-d,1945,1946-d,1948-d, and 1956-d. I also found another one of those stinking' 1959-d Memorial Pennies also. For Misc. Finds, I found some kind of Brass Object, a Religious Pendant that is Silver, some kind of Top for something, and an old Hubley or Tootsie Toy Fire Truck that is about 6" Long. The only bad thing about the Fire Truck is that it is in 5 Pieces. I am almost positive that it is a Hubley but I will have to check into it. That does it for this post so enjoy and Good Luck and HH to you all![attachment 58261 Silver.jpg][attachment 58264 Pennies.jpg][attachment 58260 Misc..jpg][attachment 58259 ToyFireTruck.jpg]

What park did that to your car?

hehehehehehehe:detecting::detecting::twodetecting::detecting:

Just kidding Bro!

Really nice finds for one outing!
KCK

Thanks for the post KCK! I just wish I could have gotten back there at that Ball Diamond today and get more Silver. I guess there is always next time out for that though. Good Luck and HH to you!:detecting:

Sorry about your Issues...
But I love The Silver's Ican't wait for the day to pull some out of the ground... I'm getting closer I think ... Well I keep saying to myself that is....

I always wondered aout Hitting the Ball Fields.... I have a few around here where i'm staying that actually date back pretty far...

But I that that It would be Considered of limits for some reason....

But I know am going to check em out

they are Locked Up or are of Historical Significance. Ball Fields are Public Property unless they are no longer in use and were bought by a Private Party. So as long as you don't leave a mess behind and take all the trash with you, there shouldn't be any problems doing them. Good Luck to you and HH!

Please everyone take your darn trash with you.......

Funny thing is that 1 of the Walkers was only about 2" or so and the other about 6". I think I may have even passed over these before thinking Cans or Shallow Clad. That is why I started to dig everything, even the Cans to get them out of the way. Hope there is a few more left for me to find next time, and I am not talking about the Cans.:punch: Also, 1 of the Quarters was only about 2" Deep also while the other was a good 10" Deep. Good Luck and HH.

Oh man, I can remeber the days of coming in with a dead stick landing with no power in the Chevy. Brings back some good memories.
Nice finds.

Jimb

I hit the same park I have been crawling through and finaly came up dry, Except for a no cash value token, That summed up the whole search.

I found the Walkers about a Half Hour apart and I could have detected for another Hour or so but it was really windy and it was quite cold out so before it would have started to rain so I figured I would leave some for another day. 2 Halves in one outing is a tough one to pull off these days along with a Silver Quarter and the Roosevelt Dime all in the same day with 2 Wheats in about 3 Hours of Work. I did dig about a Dozen Cans though and a bunch of Screw Caps so it wasn't that easy to just go out and swing the Coil over them. Thanks for the post Charles and Good Luck and HH to you at the Beach.:detecting:

What can I say. Last Month I didn't find a Half so I guess I made up for lost Finds I guess. Thanks for the Post and Good Luck and HH to you.

At your Park, are you overlapping your Swings and how tight of a Pattern are you using? What I mean is how are you working the Ground Coverage, back and forth from one end to another of the Park or just working a small area? There is always something left behind to find, just takes the right angle and sweep speed and of course, swinging the Coil over that exact spot to make it sing out. Good Luck and HH.

How do you find that much silver in one hunt!?! I've yet to find my first silver (with the exception of a silver war nickel) with my SE that is. I dug a liberty a while back with my Whites but I'm still learning my SE. Congrat's on the finds, it must be nice!

the Vehicle would have broken down out in the middle of nowhere. What I mean is that I would have had to detect all the way home and that would have been a lot of digging. :lmfao: I have been real lucky with Vehicles breaking down for some reason. When it happens it is either in Town here or Fargo which isn't a big deal since some of my Family lives there. Hope you are finding a few keepers, thanks again, Good Luck and HH to you.

Second, you have to listen to the Signals and Tones for that High Tone that screams Silver. A Half will read down 1 Line below Quarter on Smart Find and lock up on the right side like the Quarter does. The Quarter hits on the 2nd line on the right from the top. On Digital, Halves will read for the most part 28 Conduct. I have had a few that read 27 like a Wheat Penny will also. I don't really know what the Ferrous would read but I would expect it to read 00 or something close. I am glad you liked my finds and hope this will get you out there and start swinging since that is the only real way you are going to start to learn this great machine. If you have anything in particular you need pointers on or any other kind of info on how to become better at finding Silver, just PM me sometime and I will gladly help you out. Thanks Keithinvestigations for your response about my Post. Good Luck and HH to you and hope you land a Silver on your next outing.

Common sense will tell you not to detect those well manicured Field like the one up in Enderlin, but most we have run into are not well manicured and no fences around them.

Also James before I forget the school and ballfields in Sheldon is being sold in a week or so, so we may not be able to detect there anymore.
