Weekends Finds!

James N.D.

New member
I would have posted the finds sooner but I had to go and visit Rick(ND) and have him clean up some of my finds with his Electrolysis Unit he has. Saturday I didn't find a whole lot of coins and I only found 1 silver coin and 4-5 Wheats along with a nice Silver Ring. Sunday is when I did well and found the rest of the finds. So here is my totals for the weekend. I found 11 Silver this time. 3 were Quarters and they are a 1906 Canadian Quarter, a 1926 Standing Liberty Quarter, and a 1943 Washington Quarter. I found 8 Dimes which included 1 Barber Dime dated 1916-s, and 7 Mercury Dimes dated 1917,1920-s,1929,1936,1942-d,1944-d and 1945-d. I also found 20 Wheats and they are dated (2)1916,1918-d,1919-s,1925-d,1929-d,1930-d,(3)1935-d,(2)1936-d,1937-d,1939-d,1941,1941-d,1944-d,1945-d,1948-d, and 1951-d. I also found a small pendant, a pin and something that I believe is a button that says 16 to 1 on it. Thanks Rick(ND) for taking the time to clean my finds and the pics are below.[attachment 29780 Silver.jpg][attachment 29781 Wheats.jpg][attachment 29782 SilverRing.jpg][attachment 29783 Misc.jpg]

I enjoyed working with your finds as I learns more about cleaning them all the time. That ring looks a lot better in person than in the picture and feel it is a old one with the designs of the ring itself.
Great finds as usual.

Rick

That is the funny thing, we have a club and have I believe about 50 members and there is a lot of people with detectors in the area, but I don't know if they aren't taking the time to cover the areas or maybe they are still learning their detectors. I have pulled a lot of silver out of parks and etc., so I guess I am just lucky. Thanks for the post and Good Luck and HH on your next outing.

James!!!! Tell me how so much silver has been lost in N.D.??????? Either no one there has owned a detector before you, or....... ??????????

Congrats.....you just keep on mining that mother lode!

Keep going James, lets hear about the sites you are working...LOL Nice finds you got and Congrats on the SLQ...I want to get some of those myself..Hope to get out this weekend.

You are just kicking butt James!!!! Very nice silver coins you found and that ring is very nice also. Can you give me directions to your spot?................:) Keep up the neat finds and the great posts. HH.

Eddie

Every time I go back to the spot I think I am not going to find a lot of coins but I guess I am wrong! I was over this area last fall and thought that I had gotten everything but I guess I only had skimmed the surface. Some of the signals I got didn't sound like coins and 1 of them gave me a solid 31 on digital. The only reason I dug it was because I dug 2 other signals that gave me a weird 30 reading without the coin icon next to the number and both turned out to be Silver Quarters. The 31 was a Merc. I have learned a valuable thing this year with the Explorer XS and that is if it sounds somewhat good or just strange, dig it. I have recovered a lot of Silver this year by just digging these weird and strange signals and if you encounter any of these, dig them since you may leave a good coin behind. Thanks Eddie for the post and hope you find a spot like this one.

Like I said before there is plenty of Detectorist's up here but I don't think they know how to operate their detector. Or maybe they just don't hear the signals and they go and pass them up. This spot sure is a lot of fun and here I thought last fall it was almost worked out. Thanks for the post Chuck and hope you get out and find your share of the Silver.

Sure seems everywhere I walk at this site there is Silver and what not to be found. Sure is a great feeling to have found a site like this and maybe you will find one yourself. Good Luck on finding a Standing Liberty Quarter and Good Luck and HH this weekend if you get out.

No one that understands and has used a Explorer or Sovereign at these spot. Most of them have been considered worked out years ago, but those that know the Explorers and Sovereigns are showing everyone different.
I know the park this stuff comes from and talk to to a husband and wife that has detected it for year with their XLT and says there is nothing left but new coins, James just showed us there is a lot of stuff left.
We have a few people up here that know their Sovereigns and Explorers well and they do good in these older parks and ball field many feel have been worked to death. I feel most of the finds that James has posted have been all found in parks, ballfields, schools that have been hit over and over again, but James know his Explorer XS well is why he finds what he does.
I know of several around here that quit detecting back in the early 80s as everything was gone, or they worked everything there was, but we are now seeing more and more of the Indian heads, Barber and seated then we ever did before.
I think everyone has the same site around, just do a little research and you will find them with most been hit many times before, but now you don't have to worry about as much trash or the new stuff as you can concentrate on the deeper and weaker signals.

Sure hope you are getting out and finding a few good coins and relics for next months meeting. Keep working that park you have and you should find more keepers like before. Good Luck and HH.

If a person takes their time and learns the Sovereign or Explorer and goes out to old areas that they were at before, they can have the success that I have had since getting the Explorer XS back in the fall of 2001. I know I wouldn't detect with any other machine unless Minelab comes out with a detector that can go deeper and can ID a bit better. Thanks Rick for the post and Congrat's on that Walker you recently found.

I see you are doing quite well yourself. Keep up the great finds and Good Luck and HH.
