Weight & Balance of 9" X35 Coil vs HF Elliptical Coil?

I am using the HF elliptical coil on my ORX and find it to be extremely lightweight and perfectly balanced. Thinking about getting the 9" X35 coil and would like to know how it compares to the HF elliptical as far as weight and balance are concerned. Please don't post about the differences in performance, JUST weight and balance. If you are using both or have used both, I'd be interested in hearing from you. Thanks

You can get this information online easily. However, the X35 9" coil and cover weighs 370 grams. The HF elliptical coil and cover weighs 330 grams plus you have the external battery that fits in the lower shaft and the wire from the coil to the battery. So add another 40 grams for the battery and wiring and it is a toss up. I have used both with the ORX and I haven't noticed much of a difference.
In fact, the only difference I have noticed is that the ORX (or Deus) with the HF elliptical coil will constantly fall over even on flat ground.

I love the shape of the HF elliptical coil but personally (and I am a gold prospector too!) I prefer the HF round coil because of the constant falling over issue and because I thing the 54 kHz highest frequency on the HF round coil is plenty high enough for most small gold nugget and micro jewelry situations. 81 kHz is just serious overkill in my opinion.

Guess I'm going to have to rephrase my question. Does the 9" X35 coil make the ORX feel nose heavy? When using the HF elliptical coil I feel that it is in perfect balance. Don't really want to buy a X35 coil only to find out that it makes the ORX nose heavy and not as balanced as the HF elliptical coil. Thanks

Good point(s) Jeff.----When I gave the weight of the coils awhile back, I didn't take into consideration the weight of the battery in the stem (just listed coil & coil cover weight).

Like I said in my post "I have used them both and I haven't noticed much of a difference." So in other words, I have not noticed any nose heaviness. I definitely noticed nose heaviness with the X35 11" coil compared to the HF elliptical.

Your welcome.

I didn't weigh the battery. I am only estimating but the battery is about the size of 2 AAA batteries, so at least 24 grams added to the 330.

Thanks
Jeff

The 9 inch coil is very easy to swing for hours. Don't worry about it. Even my wife detect for hours with it!

Thanks everyone for answering my questions. Based on your input I just ordered a 9" X35 coil for my ORX.

You wont be sorry. I love mine.

I've been on the fence regarding picking up an X35. I have the 9.5 HF and an pretty happy with it. I haven't noticed it being a problem flopping over as I have nearly exclusively hunted beach where I don't set my detector down using a long handled scoop OR park hunting on grass and not caring much.

I have intended to buy a 9 inch X35. I had a Deus years ago and got the 11 inch and did not like the balance of it and after a year or two I sold it and moved on. Now I am back with an ORX and lucked out to find a used Deus controller sharing the HF coil.

I just ordered the ORX with the 9” X35 Coil as I already have both HF Coils. Good luck with yours!
