Weir finds.

Member
Hello all, managed to get out detecting between all the rain, for an hour or so to a weir. My son went off fly fishing while I went detecting! He didn't catch any fish, but enjoyed himself just the same. As for me, I found just over three dollars, a sinker, a lure missing the hook and the usual trash. Most of the coins were found under a pine tree, in the dirt and pine needles.

Hi Golden. Know what you mean about the rain. I've been housebound for about a week because of the wet weather but got out yesterday afternoon for a couple of hours.....Ken.

That's great Ken. Yeh, the weather has been wet, windy and gloomy here, and everytime I decide I'm going to duck out for a bit, no go. So Sunday was a welcome respite. I've just been put onto a totally new detecting site, that I very much doubt anyone has ever run a detector over before. I just checked it out today, and boy it has potential. There's also a lot of modern rubbish, but I reckon the site dates back to around 1930's, so there has to be pre-decimals in the sand. I've just got to grid it properly, and dig up EVERYTHING, to get the good stuff. I know I'll be taking home a hell of a lot of rubbish, but I'm sure it'll be worth the effort. Can't wait for next week. And the weather looks to clear up for a day or two. Here's hoping!

Man, you hard core treasure hunters are "wearing me out" digging EVERYTHING.,,,,, BUT......... Golden, I know you better than that, and I "think" there's probably a pretty good reason you're gonna dig everything on this site. You know I'm playing with you, because my first thought was, "gee" IF, she's only looking for old coins, why not set the disc to tune out everything except old coins, but I know better. Not only can that even fool you (in some cases), but I'll bet your not just looking for old coins. Your probably looking for relics and maybe a good bottle dump or two, also. See, now,,,,,,, I'm still paying attention. Don't get too mad at me, I'm still on your side, I'm just jabbin' you a bit. Marc.:sadwalk::sick::|

Hi Beachguy, from what I've seen on Google Earth, you've got some interesting detecting sites over there!
Golden:)

Yea, but the only bottle dumps I know of is where I throw my old beer bottles into the trash dumpster. Boy that was a low life statement, but I was just trying to be a little cute. I have found some purple bottles in the desert in the past. Wish I'd spent more time sorting through the dump. There were some reallly old looking bottles with a purple tint on them. Marc.

In all seriousness, there are some terriffic spots here in San Diego county to detect. Just like anywhere else, some of them are prohibited or darn risky to detect, but there's a ton of beaches and some older areas to hunt.
