Weird mix of coins

Got permission to check out a house that shows on the two oldest maps I have of Albemarle County, VA ( 1 Late 1700s, 1 early 1800's map) that is going to get torn down soon. Hit the front yard and found the 1827 1cent, the heart pendant and the bullets....and that's it!!!! Hit the back yard and dug 20-30 clad coins, all mid 60's and up. No silver, no buffaloes, no wheats, no indians. The front yard had some miscellaneous foil/tab/crowncap trash, but no coins. The house is quite visible from the road, I guess someone else pulled all the clad/silver other coins out of the front yard before I got there - but they left the large cent behind, about 6" down a couple feet off the walk path to the front door. Thanks!!!

Jim - (Mich) You are right, some sites are just "like that". I swept a yard of a house KNOWN to be built in 1836, found a "millions in defense" token dated 1841, otherwise the oldest coin was an early 20's wheat. What happened in the 80 years between those two coins???? Well ... the war, and other factors as well. I did dig some cavalry bridle tack (Civil War) on that same site. Beats nothing... Yardminer
