Hi Guys,

I managed to dig up silver half #5 for the year today. However it was a bit unexpected. It was only a few inches deep in soft dirt so it appeared to have been dropped quite recently. It also looked like someone had shined it up a bit. When I first saw it, I though it was fake. I'm guessing that it was someones good luck coin that they carried around and subsequently lost. No matter ... It's always good to find silver regardless how it comes.

Years ago in the high school lab, we would take the Mercury and rub coins with it. Gave a nice proof like appearance on silver coins. After awhile they got duller and duller. Your coin reminds me of that experience. All that stuff is under lock and key today...(I hope!) Anyway, great find..halves are always a thrill to find......
