Thanks Pete and also Liza for the video and the funny wintery stories.....I don't think I could live in Michigan, as it would be too cold for me...Mo gets cold but doesn't stay very cold for any length of time...I just stay indoors when it does, but I don't have to go to a job any more!
One time I was working at the hospital as a night bookkeeper and we had an old station wagon! The guard would walk me out to my car as it would be very early in the mornings and very dark when I got through working and balancing the financial sheet. When we got to the wagon, I couldn't get the door open as the locks had frozen! He tried to thaw the lock but couldn't, as it was very cold and icy, but we could open the back and I crawled through to the front seat and then started the engine! Now, I wore dresses or skirts back in the 60's but ya gotta do what a person has to do to get home after work!
Another time we had a Ford Pickup with an 10' Open Road Camper on it! I had to drive the highway to the hospital and working nights I would be coming home without much traffic to tend with! I got to the turnoff and had to go down a steep street with cars parked outside of apartments and homes. I started sliding back and forth and by the time I straightened it out and was able to drive on to my home off the main street and on another road, I had missed the parked cars...did not run into anything...but I was praying all the time and asking for help to not hit nor destroy anything and the good Lord helped me drive that big old rig!
I had to scrape the ice and some snow off my 91 Toyota last winter with no gloves and nothing to do it with but paper towels and, Boy, my hands got wet, cold and red...but I put the groceries in my trunk, cleaned off enough to see to get home and Praise God that it wasn't any worse than that! I don't drive very much and a sudden cold spell came up while shopping and caught me without the eqipment I needed!
I love these stories, keep them coming Pete, Liza and everyone! Gives me exciting reading and makes my day! May God Bless and help ya all when in distresses! Amen!
